I stayed in this hotel for two nights while traveling for business in January. As with other Kimpton properties, it was a nice place and there are amenities for those who sign up for the Kimpton InTouch rewards program (e.g., a $10 credit for the mini bar and a free wine hour in the lobby each evening). The location was... More

Very good location with easy access to Union Square, the Financial District or Nob Hill. San Francisco is a great walking city and you could walk virtually anywhere downtown from this hotel. The neighborhood surrounding the hotel is pretty safe with a lot of young people out on the street--although walking too far to the south or west means a... More

I've stayed at the Serrano twice now while attending a conference at the Moscone Center, and will definitely be staying there in the future. It's an older building with smallish rooms. But they have been completely updated and are comfortable, clean, and are a pleasant refuge from the bustle of the city. The restaurant downstairs is great and convenient for... More

Very lovely lobby with fresh flowers, rooms were small but clean and modern. The morning coffee and free newspapers were a delight. Bed was super comfortable. The neighborhood isn't great at night (like most of SF), but it was a quick and easy walk to Union Square. Just walk with another person! More

High marks for the Serrano. Wonderful room and good location downtown -- to walk to Ferrry Building (where Slanted Roof is a must-go-to restaurant -- book well in advance). Staff was first rate and glad to be of help. My wife's wallet somehow fell out on our way to the car to drive to the airport and a hotel staffer... More

Hotel is in excellent location. Very short walk to Union Square and to POWELL Street where the tram takes you up and down San Fran. Bars and restaurants within walking distance also. Only downside is that as you walk south of hotel the area becomes more and more rough. Late at night the streets near it can get kinda rough. More

Just stayed here for two nights for a convention in San Fran. The event was at the mosconi convention center was was .7 miles away. Since it rained the whole time I was in town, I didn't walk but it seemed further than .7 miles and was a good $6-8 cab ride away. Not a great neighborhood as the hotel... More

Not a bad walk to the convention center. Sure the area to the west of the hotel is a little suspect, but going towards Union Square or the convention center is fine. I had a room near the elevator and am told these are a little bigger. It was clean and actually relatively large for an older hotel. Beds were... More

I was rather disappointed with the Serrano. However, since I hate to complain, I'll mention the positive points first. The location is very good, only a couple of blocks from Union Square and a 5 minute walk to the nearest tram/light rail stop. The reception staff are professional and helpful. The lobby is attractive, and features free tea/coffee and free... More

The customer service is 5 stars at this comfortable Kimpton property. There is a free wine reception in the lobby, very helpful staff, free coffee and tea in the mornings, and if you are an In-Touch Member free wi-fi. The rooms themselves are very well decorated and very comfortable. The location however... not good. The property sits on the cusp... More
