The decor alone makes this hotel worth a visit, they've really thought through their hotel-in-a-Hitchcock-movie design. The rooms are enormous and very comfortable, bright and clean. even with a window overlooking the busy road it was still quiet inside. The staff are great, helpful and full of hints and tips about what to do. it's 3 mins walk from union... more

We were looking to be close to the sights but not pay too much. Hotel Vertigo was great. Fun, newly redecorated rooms, good location, very nice staff, and a price that's hard to beat. Have stayed in many other hotels in SF and this is my new favorite. Lots of dining, coffee shops, etc. nearby. more

Came into the city with high school daughter who can't stop raving about the hotel. We arrived late at night in the pouring rain. The hotel clerk helped us unload and offered to take the car to the garage and bring back the parking pass. While the parking was a bit pricey it was cheaper than most other hotels and... more

The hotel was just okay. I went with my husband for a weekend get away. The hotel was alright. Neat idea. The whole place smelled pretty bad though like a musty motel 6. We stayed in a updated room and it still stunk. The rooms were kinda cool, a little clockwork orange. Most of the staff was pleasent. We were... more

This hotel was in a pretty good location, walking distance to the square and close to trams that takes you down to the water. Rooms were nice except for the ghost we experienced on our first night. The lights continued to turn themselves on during the night and even after being turned off would magically turn on again. Reception also... more

We stayed at this hotel as a relative, staying next door, just had surgery and would be there for 2 weeks. The staff was friendly and accomodating, and the room had (gasp) a really comfortable bed. Small fridge, free wi-fi, desk to work from, well - appointed bath, we would stay there again in a minute. Also, many thanks to... more

My boyfriend and I stumbled across this on travel zoo - they were running a special on it ~$100/night for a renovated room (although at first the staff I called to book didn't know about the deal, I talked with one of their associates who did - saved $50/night because of it - guys, if you're paying $140 a night... more

I travel almost twice a month internationally and have stayed in everything from the mondrian in miami to the four seasons in paris and I thought the vertigo was a great boutique hotel with all the amenities you need without the cost. The bathrooms were brand spanking new, the linen beautiful and I loved the little art deco touches in... more

this was my first time in san francisco. booked the hotel 2 days prior to checking which is a bit late as it is a weekend. all the other hotels were fully-booked. paid 120 dollars a night for a non-renovated room. a bit overpriced considering what the room looks like. ok location i guess, walking distance to union square in... more

We loved this hotel! The decor was really great considering it is cloudy in the morning. The orange curtains made the room bright and cheery. The staff was very helpful and friendly and professional. We would stay here again. It was in a safe area for two women and not far to catch a bus to the wharf. Plenty of restaurants and... more
