Travelodge by the Wharf is centrally located to the wharf. The hotel is older and the rooms are small but it's the best deal for the money. The front desk guys were great. I got lost and they gave me turn by turn directions. I had a great trip with my family and friends.

This is the most awful place I have ever stayed. Very unclean, springs bulging through the mattress, no lamps on the nightstand, and windows that let every bit of noise through. Walking into the room you were hit with the smell of mould and mildew, wall lamps bent, bathroom towel and tp holders missing or broken, black spots on the ceiling (looked like mould), curtains ratty and missing hangers, thermostat missing, dial on heater didn't work, outdated furniture and TV, just generally awful!!!!

We had pre booked 3 nights based on previous Travelodge experience, and what a mistake! On arrival we went to the office and were greeted with an overpowering smell of curry. we are currently staying here for a total of 5 nights and cannot fault this place. the location is excellent being across the road from the hilton and the marriott. one block away from the delightful pier 39 with stunning views of alcatraz and the golden gate bridge. the rooms are basic but certainly adequate. cannot understand the bad reviews....
