Brace yourself for some true southern hospitality! Louisa's Porch is within the famous historic Montford district, and yet we were able to walk to town. Bob has travelled a lot, himself, and has consciously applied the best facets of his travels to his own homestay. We were contacted prior to our arrival so that we would be personally greeted and... Totally quiet, great place to get some rest! Bob and his crew are very friendly and helpful. It's an easy walk to the interesting downtown sites. The house is small and beautiful, everything spotlessly clean and shiny, kitchen straight out of House Beautiful. Just a FYI, unlike a bed and breakfast, it's a homestay place. That means you can use... More

Louisa's Porch always puts on a fabulous breakfast. This time Laurel really outdid herself. Always wonderful fresh fruit with granola and yogurt. Then eggs she scrambles with cheddar cheese on low heat for 20 minutes -- so it comes out wonderfully tender and custard-like. Bacon or sausage, cheese grits or blueberry pancakes, a little salad on the side. Excellent strong... More

My family stayed at Louisa's Porch in December '12. We reserved both rooms and had an excellent time. Bob was always the host and a pleasure. Our breakfasts were unique and delicious every morning (thanks Laurel!). I've visited Asheville several times for vacations and the Montford district is one of my favorite places to stay. It's very convenient to downtown... More

The best thing about our trip to Asheville was our stay with Bob (and that's not to say that we didn't love Asheville too!). He was so welcoming, the room was so comfortable and spotless, and the breakfast was so tasty that we really enjoyed it. In fact it felt just like we were visiting an old friend. It's only... More

I've stayed at a handful of B&Bs, and this was by far one of my most favorite experiences. From start to finish, it was easy, it was comfortable, and everyone was warm and gracious. First of all, it's not overrun by a lot of staff members or other guests. It really does feel like you're staying in a little home... More

We thoroughly enjoyed out stay at Louisa's. Bob is friendly and knowledgeable, the house is beautifully furnished and very comfortable, and the breakfasts were great. It's walking distance to downtown, yet it gives you the feeling of actually living in a real neighborhood in Asheville for a few days. Highly recommended!

My wife and I stayed there for the night. It was a last minute decision to stay in Asheville, after calling around we found Bob. He was a gracious host. The breakfast was great as well, thank you again Harper. We will definitely be staying here again.

Thank you Bob! We really enjoyed your home and company. This B&B is great on delivering a clean, beautiful and friendly place to stay. I love the fact that the owner sat down to breakfast with us - again local knowledge is invaluable. On the basis of breakfast with Bob we changed our travel plans and went to Savannah when... More
