The basics: friendly service, comfortable bed, clean room, not cramped for space, good breakfast.
Other issues:
They let me check in way early (a room was ready).
On the other hand, standard building construction, so you might need earplugs if your neighbor is a bunch of small-hours party animals! (mine weren't).
Can walk (a long one) to Old Town.

Having got to know the San Diego area a fair bit I really don't think this or it's sister hotel in Hotel Circle. N. could be better placed. My wife and I stayed here for one night to catch a flight out of San Diego airport. Below average room, nothing fancy at all. Should have stayed at the Comfort Inn down the street. For a 1 night stay though, it done ok.
