Oilfield workers have taken all the rooms and driven up prices. Stayed one night. Refused to shower because it didn't look clean. I don't think the carpets had been vacuumed in a while. Not worth the $100.

First of all, this place is FILTHY. The curtains have really ugly stain, the door has never been washed, the bathroom door has mysterious nasty brown fingerprints all over it. The exhaust fan in the bathroom has never been vacuumed. The phone is filthy. Even the plastic Domino's pizza order card is full of sticky fingerprints. I am utterly shocked... More

I stay at choice hotels all over the use and I have to say that most of the Econo Lodges I stay at are towards to bottom when it comes to the quality of the place. This one was different. I was pleasantly surprised at how clean it was and how updated all the rooms were. It is an older... More

We checked into this hotel, went to the room and looked around and then went right back to the front desk and checked out. It was horrible. When we opened the door the stench was awful. We asked a for non-smoking, which this clearly wasn't. The carpets were filthy, as well as the fruniture. The bathroom was the worst. Shower... More

As long term Choice Privileges hotels users we were dismayed at this one......Carlsbad seems to think it has the right to charge extortionate rates compared to sister hotels in other locations around the country.....guess that is solely to do with the oil related businesses in the area & maybe the caverns but to pay over $100 incl tax for this... Room didn't feel clean, bathroom towels etc. seemed disheveled, breakfast was the worst I've seen. I had an issue regarding a left item, called immediately was assure they would take care of it, followed up several times, when I arrived back it was clear that they had just been giving me lip service and hadn't actually done anything regarding my... This is a stinky, musty, old run down motel that should be torn down instead of unfairly using a National Chain Name to deceive unsuspecting Guests. The bed is uncomfortable, the carpet is stained and torn up, the dive sports bar attracts some unusual characters and the Employees couldn't care less. At the free Breakfast it was filthy, the waffle... More

I needed a room to attend a family funeral. Karen W. is right - rooms are over-priced in Carlsbad and it was difficult to find a room. When I opened the door to the room, there was a strong musty smell. When I turned on the A/C, it was worse so I turned on the fan and left the room... More

This property has changed names and is now Econolodge. If you are looking for a place to stay in Carlsbad plan way ahead and make reservations early. Most hotels are booked due to the oil and potash industry boom. Don't let the hotel lobby fool you the rooms are filthy. The light fixture over the sink was loaded with dead... More
