Beautiful room, very comfy bed, fantastic view of New York. Hotel is very welcoming with a gorgeous fireplace in reception/lounge area and comfy sofas to relax in. We came to NY as part of our 40th wedding anniversary celebrations. The hotel was so kind as on our return from a full day out we saw that a bottle of champagne in a bucket of ice was waiting for us! How kind and thoughtful. Great location too! Highly recommend!

I was looking for a hotel in the NYC Chelsea area within walking distance of the chemotherapy center that I will be visiting weekly for several weeks . The Maritime is a block away . I called the hotel to see if they had a special rate for Mount Sinai Hospital patients . I was directed to the manager, Nancy, and I need to tell the story of what this wonderful woman has done for me . Not only did she give me a reduced rate , but in the time of Covid , she keeps the room that I am in only 2 nights a week empty for the rest of the week so that I can avoid any potential exposure . She informed the hotel staff of my situation and they couldn’t be more accommodating. In fact, I am greeted by name when I step into the lobby on arrival . She has gone out of her way to help make the most difficult thing I have ever had to do less frightening and for that I will be forever grateful. The Maritime Hotel has a cool retro vibe in a nautical design . It is immaculately clean and the room has little amenities like bathrobes , mini bar , umbrellas to use during your stay , electrical conversion kit for international travelers , etc. It is located steps away from the Chelsea market, so take out food is abundant, which is especially important during the pandemic . Also Tao Downtown and Catch Steak restaurants provide room service if needed . For convenience, cleanliness , location and ,most of all, personal attention I highly recommend the Maritime . Please give your business to a place that really cares about its customers.

Really enjoyed our stay here over Christmas. The reception area was cosy, relaxing and warm. Rooms are small, but this is to be expected in New York at this price. Our room was very clean and comfortable, the view wasn’t great. The breakfast was a brilliant touch, it had a good variety and filled us up to lunch; I did find the girl on breakfast duty to be quite sour and unhelpful. The reception staff are generally pleasant and courteous, if not a little too laid back at times. The location of this hotel is excellent. Chelsea is a beautiful neighbourhood and it is in a couple of minutes walking distance from the Highline and Chelsea market. I would definitely return. Helpful hint though...do not eat in the restaurant they work with Catch Steak unless you are willing to pay extortionate prices for mediocre food!

NYC is back open from the pandemic and so are the parties.

We chose this hotel as it was close to family. What a mistake. Apparently this is a clubbing part of Manhattan, and the noise continues much of the night. The hotel only has rooms on one side of the hotel and the rooms all face the clubs.
The hotel can provide a large foam panel to cover your window and earplugs, but is this really what you should be paying for when you rent a room.
And then, when the clubs close down, the parties move into the hotel and the wild parties continue until you call the front desk at 4 AM and they send security to shut it down.
There is no escape from the noise even on the upper floors. We were on the next to top floor.

I would not recommend this hotel unless you are into the clubbing crowd and need a place to abuse your fellow humans of which you have no respect.

The management does not appear actively engaged in being concerned of the paying patrons who are subjected to the abusive behavior of adjacent businesses or guests. But perhaps they are involved in the clubbing scene and profit from it at the expense of unsuspecting customers. If management is involved in the clubbing businesses next door, they should alert patrons. about their business intent. Any way you look at it, managment is not effective in altering the neighboring businesses into encouraging an environment that is synergistic with a good nights sleep. Which is why most people stay in a hotel.

DO NOT STAY HERE. EVER!!!!

I've just spent 4 nights at the Maritime Hotel and it was overall a positive experience. The place is kitted out like a 50's maritime office meets cruise ship, with large portholes for windows, dark, curvy woods and plenty of mirrors. The most striking feature of the hotel is the almost totally quiet, bell hopped lobby which is a bit of a library meets lounge. It is the perfect contrast to the quite chaotic Manhattan outside. The staff are also very friendly.

The room was larger than I expected for NYC and featured a solid bed with fluffy pillows, good wifi, nice toiletries, good shower power, and totally quiet rooms (try asking for a higher floor). Smaller features were noticed as well, such as a 'do not disturbed' sign that is a magnet on the door, as opposed to something on the handle that just falls off.

One area to be aware of was the breakfast situation. it is an unstaffed (other than cleaners) affair offering fruits, cereals, dull pastries, and tea/coffee/juice but that's it. And on the A/C front, the Maritime are guilty of something that is rife post pandemic...they limit how cool the room can actually become in order to save money. But if you're reading this you're probably going in the fall/winter, so good luck!

What a lovely, calm, stylish and wonderful hotel. The front desk was kind and helpful, even printing my broadway tickets for me from my email. They were knowledgeable and professional without being stuffy at all, just... nice! I was surprised to learn that the hotel has been open for as long as it has. Everything felt fresh and clean and the style is amazing. It’s kind of like being on a very cosy old ship or train but with an awesome mid century feel to it. My party of three, using two rooms, felt as if every need was anticipated. From the bathroom amenities to the daily newsletter to the ear plugs and WINDOW PLUGS, they truly strive to make your stay comfortable. It’s the single best hotel I’ve ever stayed in and the only place I’ll ever stay in while visiting New York from here on out. I’ve stayed in much more expensive luxury hotels but none were as warm as The Maritime. Seriously, you will love it.

The Maritime is across from Chelsea Market, 2 blocks from the High Line, and a very neat hotel. Rooms are ship-shape so to speak, built in cupboards and beds with beautiful blue linens and lovely wood walls. Not huge but plenty of space and so wonderful looking out the round windows. A special bonus is the quiet lobby, not over run with foot traffic or bar noise so you can read or work next to the fireplace. Coffee and continental breakfast included is practically unheard of in Manhattan.

I just absolutely love the Maritime and have spent many an afternoon wandering in to meet friends who are staying there from out of town. It is perfectly situated to go anywhere in Manhattan by subway or car and window shop or meander through Chelsea and Soho and all the most amazing areas close by.

Finally it was our turn to stay there and it proved to be the best decision we ever made. It was my husbands birthday and Several of our friends and family booked rooms to be with us for as long as possible (from London, Florida and upstate Ny) as had my husbands birthday celebrations at a venue in Manhattan. The staff were amazing from the minute we arrived through to our return back, always there for us whenever we needed anything but not intruding, just always there!! And so friendly, they got us ice, kettles, bought our cases up and stored presents and balloons and our room was absolutely fantastic. We had a suite which was like a mini apartment and meant our friends and family popped in quite a bit, and so quiet and peaceful and private that the next day we both ended up skipping breakfast and resting together reading and doing yoga in the library area of our suite before heading out for lunch at Chelsea Market (2 minutes away).
Thank you to all the team at the Maritime for giving us then best night’s stay ever in NYC ever. Hope to be back soon. K

We had a very nice 1 week stay at the Maritime Hotel. From previous reviews, I was concerned about possible noise issues. Yes, there is a busy restaurant/night club downstairs, but from the 6th Floor all we heard was an ambient city buzz that you would expect anywhere in NYC. It did not bother us.

Rooms are small, but so well organized that we didn't feel any lack for space. The daily continental breakfast (fresh pastries, fruit, yogurt) and coffee in the morning were a nice touch. On arrival, Ashley was able to get us an early check in and took great care of us throughout our stay. Much appreciated.

The location of the hotel can't be beat. It is in the heart of Chelsea, literally across the street from Chelsea Market. 1 block from the E train. Very close to the Highline, Little Island, Hudson River Park. So many restaurants in the area. We basically were able to walk or take a short train ride anywhere we wanted to go.

Really our only issue, and the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5, was the bedding. Both the pillows and the bed itself were sort of soft and mushy. I guess we are used to a firmer mattress, and by the end of the week, my husband had some back pain that he attributed to the mattress.

But overall, we were very happy with the hotel.

To the point: Maritime Hotel is in a great Manhattan neighborhood, the standard room I stayed in was small but very very nice and really quite.

Maritime Hotel is in a great Manhattan neighborhood, the "Meat Packing District" which is really like a "sub" neighborhood of Chelsea. Either way, it's a great area. NYC subway is barely a block away.

I stayed here two nights, March 7th and March 8th 2020. Room 311, a standard room. Full size bed which was very comfortable. Of course the pillows were lousy but I have yet to stay at any hotel where this was not the case. The room was not very big. Despite the dark paneling, the room did not feel small. The mirrors on one side helped to make it feel roomier as well. It was cozy in the very best definition.

The room was small but it didn't feel like it. It was decorated to feel like an elegant cabin on a ship and it worked. Real wood paneling throughout. A nice soft headboard. Ample lighting and outlets everywhere which are needed more than ever with everything needing charging. I really loved the shelves on both sides of the headboard that had lights and more outlets. Bathroom was very nice. Big shower stall with nice shelves and a big mirror which was unusual but great. Well stocked mini bar thankfully had more than just alcohol.

The biggest surprise was how insanely quite the room was. Though the entrance to The Maritime is on West 16th Street, the hotel straddles the very busy 9th Avenue between 16th and 17th Streets. You would think this would cause no end of noise in the room but I didn't hear so much as one car horn. It was so quiet that I actually put on white noise on my phone because it was TOO quiet. And I was on the 3rd floor.

I did not get a chance to check out the restaurants in the hotel. The lobby is very cozy as well.

I personally don't have anything negative to say about The Maritime. Maybe some people might find the rooms to be a bit on the dark side (something I thought was a plus).
