The location of this RV park is outstanding! That's about the only good thing I have to say about it. Restaurant and office close at 5:00. No WiFi, no cell phone, no pay phone. Very little shade. The gift store has a pretty nice variety of items including snacks and drinks. But the real jewel is the restaurant. They serve a surprising variety of home-cooked meals. We are staying in the camping cabins. These are not for the person looking for a nice hotel...these have a bunk with a pad ( no mattress) and electricity only, no running water, but if you like to rough it a little, enjoy a peaceful spot where you can sit outside by the fire and not have to worry about... First off, FANTASTIC VIews. The duplex is literally on the edge of the NPS property. It is 1/4 mile SOUTH of the campground, adjacent to the road. Nothing else around for miles, so it's extremely quiet. Duplex #1 has a glassed in porch/sitting area, microwave and small fridge. 2 queen beds. New tile and carpeting. Clean. We stayed in cabin 4. It was near the bathrooms and had a great view of the dunes from the front porch. The lodge seemed to be lost in the 70s and the location is very desolate and windy, but for a family car trip, the cabin was affordable and fun for the kids, and we loved watching the sunset.... This place as backwoodsy as it was is amazing. The food was delicious...especially the homemade banana cream pie,best ive ever had. The decor could use some help but with food like this who cares? It's location is perfect, right in the outskirts of the dunes.
