We stayed 3days here and the place is very clean and well maintained than expected with nice garden. Located 1.5km away from town center and 5mins away from Lake Gregory. Owner is very helpful and always assured our privacy without any disturbance. ***If you wanna spend your holiday calm and quietly I’m highly recommended this place. Totally loved to stay there again... P.S- You can have a glass of wine or a shot of whisky on terrace in the evening with the cold breeze glancing at misty hills...

The place is called Heavenly Home Inn in Nuwara Eliya, but seriously it is so far from 'heavenly'! When we arrived there, the first thing I noticed was that the owner has stated at her gate ‘Foreigners Only’! I personally found it very insulting. As soon as she met me, she asked me if I was a Sri Lankan, and where I live! When we went there, she said that she does not have Drivers’ Accommodation even though she promised me accommodation for our Driver, when I called her before booking her place. She said that she can give her Driver’s bed to my Driver. I was not happy but we were tired and thirsty so we ordered some tea/coffee without arguing. We ordered some tea/coffee on payment as there was no tea or coffee making facility in the Family Room that we booked. After tea/coffee, we ordered some dinner out of the menu card that she provided us. After that, our Driver went to the car to collect his stuff and he has been told by the owner that he will be given the bed in a little while. About an hour went by but no bed had been provided to him and our driver was still in the car seated in the cold. Mind you, he started the journey at 8am and he had been driving until we came to Not so Heavenly Inn at 6.30pm or so. I spoke to the owner to ask her what was going on. She said that she does not have Driver’s Accommodation and if I need accommodation for the driver that I have to book/pay for a room! Then she immediately changed her mind and asked me to be shown a room saying that she has arranged the room for a couple that was to come the next day morning and that she can give the room to our Driver but not the bed because she can’t re-arrange the bed! I did not have any other option so I had to take it for my driver’s sake. It was around 7pm at the time and I could not simply make my driver stay in the car any longer as it was getting cold (Nuwara Eliya is the coldest place in SL and at the time it was getting to about 16C) When I went to the bathroom to have a shower, the shower was broken and there was no hot water and the water was spurting out of a broken pipe.I had to call the Owner again to ask her how to use the hot water to have a wash. I had a 10 year old boy who was very tired and wanting to go to sleep after dinner! She asked us to have dinner as the plumber, she said, would take about an hour and a half to come to make the shower. She said that the previous guests have not informed her of the broken shower. (I questioned myself, why she did not check it after each guest!) Then she changed her mind and said that there was a water cut on the previous day and when the water board has reconnected the supply, the water pressure was so great it had broken the shower! We sat to have dinner that we ordered from her out of the menu card that she gave us, but to our surprise they were all in ‘Take Away’ boxes with some empty plates replaced on the table. We ordered 2 Singapore Noodles, 1 Fried Rice with 3 portions of Chicken, and also a Cheese Omelette followed by 4 Ice Creams. The main meal was in boxes and the chicken curry with a piece of chicken each with some gravy were placed on small dishes. Apart from the that, she has also placed the small Elephant House Ice Cream tubs on the table and they were already melted! The food was so cold and we found it hard to eat but we had to eat as it was too late to go look for food with a 10 year old and also we were too tired and hungry as we started our journey at 8am. Then we noticed that the ice cream tubs were priced at Rs.35 even though in her menu card she said that each cost us Rs.100 plus 10% service charge. I did not expect to have ‘Take ‘Away’ food when we have ordered out of a menu card. Not once she said that they will be in ‘Take Away’ boxes. She mislead us so badly for us to believe that she was cooking them for us and charged us a price we would have paid at a restaurant: Rs.4,040.00 Our son was so tired I had to put him to sleep without having a proper wash. The room was so cold and no heating as we expected since Nuwara Eliya is a cold place. There was a torn piece of paper on the door to say that if we need heating, we had to pay Rs.800.00 per night. The blankets given to us were smelly as they were neither washed nor have they been dry cleaned. We were asked to wait to have a wash or go to the room that she has given to our driver who has already gone to sleep in the mattress put on the floor in the room because he was told that he can't use the bed! We waited until 9pm when the plumber eventually turned up and supposedly made the heating but he asked us to wait for a further 30 minutes to have a shower so that the water will be heated. We waited for a further 30 minutes but the water was not warm so we had to go to sleep without even having a wash as we were too tired and we wanted to have an early start the next day. There was not even basics provided- no soap, but a little hand wash liquid! The bath tub was so dirty and it would have been appalling to get into it even if we had hot water! We have already ordered the breakfast then, but after experiencing a cold dinner, I had to cancel it. We had a very bad night/sleep in a very cold room and using dirty blankets as there was no other way. The windows could not be closed properly and the draft was coming in through the windows and it made the room colder. There was an eternal rattling noise all through the night coming through one of the windows since latches were broken. I tried to speak to the Owner in the morning before we left about our difficulties, and she tried to give excuses for everything and said that she did her best When I got into the car to leave, my driver said that the Owner unethically approached him with a promise of some regular work if he was able to persuade us not make a complaint or to put a bad review. I think this is very unethical. Our driver is loyal to us so he told me of the approach he has received from the owner. She has also told him that she has given him the room that she was to give us and if she did not give it to him, we would have had hot water. I don’t personally believe it as the room I booked was a Family Room and the room given to our Driver was a double room. If you do not want to experience what we experienced, please do not go there. It is not Heavenly!

This is a lovely homestay with old-fashioned decor. The room was large and had a mosquito net. Place is a short walk out of town. The bed had plenty of blankets and the shower was warm. We were very happy here.

Stayed overnight on our tour of Sri Lanka. There are better places to stay in Nuwara Eliya. The bedroom we had was small with no room for suitcases and very drafty. One blanket did not even fit the bed. Bathroom was ok and there was hot water. Breakfast very ordinary, omelettes served were cold as was the toast. Jam fruit tea and coffee supplied. Would strongly recommend you stay somewhere else. Do not stay here

Was a bit hard to find off the main road. Needs a big sign. Room was large. Bit out dated with decor. Bathroom window did not shut so mosquitoes came into the room. Hot water in shower did not have enough pressure to come out of the shower head. Room was clean, large and comfortable. Wifi was spotty but was located in the room. About 15min walking distance from down town.

We stayed one night there to go to the Horton Plains in the early next morning. Room was clean, but the bedsheets had a bad smell. We ordered a breakfast to go for the next morning because we planned to leave at 5 am for the World´s End but unfortunately they forgot our breakfast and we left without breakfast.

We stayed in pink room here during business trip in Nuwara Eliya. The double bed is comfortable but small for a double bed. The Inn doesn't prepare any food but there is delivery system from nearby restaurants. Bathroom is average with hot water. The room is quite small and there is no cloth rack. Good to survive a one night.

I was there for one night and took a family room in the upstairs. It has very beautiful balcony to the city and lake. Our room was big and comfort but It didn't have bathing shampoo and soap in the bathroom. Its easy to go to the city or lake beach with TUK TUK by 200 Rupee. Room was clean and comfort but the only bad thing about this place was breakfast. They make scrambled eggs for us but a little cold. it was some butter and jam without cheese. You have to lower your expectation about the breakfast.

If you want to stay in a typical Sri Lankan house then this does the job. The bed was very comfy and stars on the ceiling which lit up at night were fun.The owner on request let us watch the maid cooking our supper (not quite the cooking lesson we had expected ) and she was sweet but the owner was visibly absent. We then had to heat supper later but all we had was Dahl, rice and bananas. In the morning we turned up for breakfast but were only offered tea. There was no one around to tell us anything and we felt uncomfortable the first night in the communal room as didn't realise the other people there were guests and not family. A shame as I know the owner has been very helpful in the past.
