This Spring Hill Suites is very similar in many ways to the one at University Lake - same room layout and decor, same food, but lacking the stunning location. I stayed here in mid April and chose it because it was the lowest priced Marriott hotel in Anchorage (I am working towards maintaining status with Marriott). We stayed in midtown, not being familiar with Anchorage. I would have preferred downtown. We didn't have a car, so finding good restaurants within walking distance was impossible. I always stay at this hotel when I visit Anchorage. The staff are friendly, the room is clean and nicely decorated, the bed is COMFORTABLE, and it's conveniently located next to shopping, the movie theater, airport, etc.
