I stay only one night in this hotel, was impossible to stay more. The bathroom possessed a horrible sewage smell. I had headache because this. The room is old and not in a good condition. The restaurant is a trash. I paid 40 euros for the fish menu and was totally disgusting. I got sick because the food was spoiled.... More

The hotel is situated with a breathtaking view over the lake and the Popes summer residence. Unfortunately we got a very small two bed room (no 201) not much space for suitcases. The larger rooms facing the lake are better, but the ones staying there had no heating that worked (March can be cold!) The restaurant at the hotel is... More

This hotel was a great find. It is a grand old place, it might not live up to current four star expectations but it is quite magical, in a perfect setting. At 120 euros including breakfast for a junior suite for our family of three (off season) it is also not the price of a four star hotel so take... More

When we first walked into the room, it was such a disappointment to see the shabby furnishings and the spartan amenities. How can this be rated as a 4 star is beyond me. in terms of comfort, there is nowhere to relax outside with the exception of the rooftop patio which had horrible green indoor/outdoor carpeting that was ripped in... In September 2011 we had our wedding at Hotel Castel Vecchio, I am English and my husband is Italian so we had to please a mixed crowd. We had 27 rooms for the weekend with guests from both Italy and England. The place is lovely, the view of the lake is beautiful, the rooms (although traditional) are lovely and clean... More

The hotel was the setting for our daughters wedding reception and the service received for the whole weekend was excellent, the food was first class and they did everything they could to assist us from getting rooms ready early to making the evening a night to remember. We had over 20 rooms booked and yes they do vary in size... More

The view is spectacular. However the rest... The room I had on the -1 Floor was rather small and crowded with a tiny table AND a tiny desk with two chairs. The shower cramped and awkward. No airconditioning and a hot floor (presumably hot pipes underneath?), the room was stuffy and unbearably hot. I would have left the window open,... More

We had high expectations for this visit. We were there to find a hotel for our wedding reception. But upon arrival, we were immediately let down. The entrance is unkept and quite inaccessible. Inside is no different. Outdated and distastefully decorated with Roman trinkets. Reception staff were slow and disinterested. Bedrooms were unappealing and uncomfortable Ensuite shower incredibly awkward. Swimming... More

This town is widely known for being the residence of the Pope in the summertime. The town itself is small and does not have a large amount of tourist activities but it is another one of those beautiful old European towns that are worth the visit. The Hotel Castel Vecchio was also excellent and much easier to access/find than Hotel... More

Castel Gandolfo is a great place to get away from the excruciating heat and noise of Rome. Hotel Castelvecchio is an place that takes you back in time: old palacelike building with marble floors, chandeliers, heavy velvet curtains and such. A lot of character, huge rooms and the most incredible view. From our room (218) we had a beautiful lake... More
