We returned to our friends David and Robert at Whitman House when we came to watch our son run his first Boston Marathon. Thankfully, we exited the Marathon finish area before the tragic explosions. Whitman House continues to be a place of wonderful hospitality and stimulating conversations. On this trip it was also a place of peace and strength in... More

The 1836 vintage restoration is fab! So beautiful and affordable! A short walk to the T station through a lovely neighborhood. Two stops to Beacon Hill. We walked to Harvard. Super location. The well-stocked kitchen is yours for whatever breakfast you desire. Robert and David are great hosts. This will be our lodging for future trips to Boston.

The house has a great central location to dicover Boston, just a five minute walk to the T (3-4 Stops to downtown Boston or Harvard). The house is located in the middle of Cambridge with plenty of shops, bars and grocery stores within walking distance. The room was clean and big enough for two, private bath was not en suite (which... More

We are answering this review because it is misleading. Regarding bathrooms, we occasionally go into bathrooms to fix equipment, check heating/cooling, clean, replace linens and this is the only reason a guest would find that someone had 'used' a bathroom barring an emergency or someone breaking the rules. Regarding breakfast, preparing breakfast for guests in a bed and breakfast home... More

We had a wonderful time at Whitman House with our 15 year old daughter, thanks to the kind, friendly and gracious of David and Robert. Got local knowledge and tips on transport, tourist spots and even got to make our own pancakes in the mornings! We'll definitely stay here again as/when we get back to this lovely part of the... The Whitman house is a wonderful place to stay during your visit in Boston. The owners, David and Robert, welcome you into you their home as if you were family. The place is immaculately clean and the architecture (designed by the owners) is amazing! The house is a few blocks from Mass Ave and the T, plus there is parking... More

I spent two nights at Whitman House and found the owners friendly and accommodating. They even let my local friend park her car in the back so we could take public transportation to the Fine Arts Museum. The atmosphere was easygoing, as though staying at a friend's or relative's home, the location great for my needs, and the rates reasonable... More

As soon as I stepped through the door of the Whitman House, I felt like I had just arrived at my best friends beautifully renovated home, and was thrilled to have the opportunity to stay for a visit. The hosts were warm, fun, intelligent and made me feel like family, just what I was hoping for. The house is impeccably... More

One of the statements in the guestbook hits really close to the mark. "Whitman House is not like staying with friends, it IS staying with friends!" Whitman House was recommended to us by a friend in the area. The house interior is very neat and tidy, and the rooms are spotless. The main lounge area is spacious yet cozy, and... More

We just stayed two nights after arriving from the UK. Our host David met us on arrival at Whitman house. What an interesting character who has a lot to say about everything. The best advice he gave us was see everything here that you can't see anywhere else. The room was very high quality but our bathroom was not en... More

The 4 of us stayed there in sept 2011 for 3 days. We were on our way to wolfeboro NH for our friends wedding. The place was very close to the train station and to Harvard university. The rooms were clean and food was ok. David was a good host he told us where to go to see the places... More
