If you like historic houses, you will love this place. It is 4 miles south of Woodstock, very quiet, on a small river. Owners accommodated our children without any problem, and price was very reasonable. (off-season) History of the place, the doors, the renovation were fabulous. Floors are pretty creaky if you are trying to sneak to the bathroom without... More

Grist Mill House is a beautifully cared for historic building–it would be difficult to imagine a lovelier inn for a New England getaway. The Innkeepers are warm and generous, the breakfast delicious, the common areas comfortable and cozy (a wood burning stove!), the rooms beautifully kept and adorned. Just lovely. My husband and I look forward to returning.

We found the place peaceful and cozy. The sheets were sweet smelling and the beds very comfy. We enjoyed Peter and Carol very much. The breakfast was delicious and graciously served. We felt very much at home and considered spending an additional night but needed to be on our way.It was the best place we stayed on our visit to... More

A long weekend getaway with my neice began with a two night stay at this charming B & B. The Inn is hosted with grace, style and enthusiasm by Peter and Carole. Peter is an energetic and knowledgable innkeeper and will gladly share recipes (which we highly encourage him to publish) tales of yore (he has a great sense of... More

Our favorite place in New England & most affordable too! I loved that it was off the beaten path a bit, away from the touristy downtown area. Also do yourself a favor & pick up some of the maple syrup they serve at breakfast from Top Acres farm which is just a mile or two away! They were great little... More

We had a wonderful two night stay at this historic B&B. What once was a grist mill, built in 1779, has been turned into an enchanting home. History surrounds you here, both in the building, the furnishings and the surroundings and the owners are eager to share their knowledge with you. The room was comfortable and, while 3 rooms shared... More

The Grist Mill House is a comfortable piece of history that you can be a part of. It was a joy to spend a evening in this unique environment. No TV, radio, cellphone...but yes, Wi-Fi.Your shoes are left in the mud room and the floors will creak as you make your way to to the only bathroom. You can walk... More

If you want a truly Vermont experience, this is the place for you. This renovated Grist Mill has all the luxuries and comforts of a traditional B&B, and more. The space is beautiful and perfect for a relaxing escape. The Inn is full of open public spaces or places to sit alone and read. I liked the back decks, chairs... More

Having stayed at the Grist Mill House on several different occasions, in each of the three rooms, enjoyed a full variety of the breakfasts that Peter Pickett creates (and we think they compare favorably with the ones I create--and we're very picky), I think we're finally at the point where we can wholeheartedly, without reservations on our part, recommend this... What a treat! The Grist Mill is out of the way in horse country about 5 miles from Woodstock, vermont. What makes it special is it was built in 1779. It has WIFI but no TV. The open area has huge ceiling beams and beautiful floors. There are only 3 rooms but well appointed. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxing... More
