Reviews Summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.

The Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Resort, enjoys a prime location that garners appreciation for its close proximity to a pristine beach and on-site luxuries, including its well-maintained pools. Guests have called out the exceptional cleanliness of the resort; however, opinions on service and amenities are mixed, with commendations for friendly staff but concerns over inattentiveness and limited chair availability. Many travelers find the resort's costs steep, not aligning with the value received, especially in light of the outdated and sometimes noisy rooms due to ongoing construction.

Gorgeous property and been there a few times in the last few years. One of our favorite resort hotels we frequent and highly recommend. Staff is excellent and the renovated rooms are magnificent. The sushi bar is fantastic and our favorite but the other restaurants on premises are also very good.

Where to begin. This is an over the top exceptional resort. They have more than 5 pools -I lost count. There’s an adult pool, a lazy river, a 2 story slide, a Tarzan rope swing, and more. There’s a wing dedicated to beautiful shops on the resort grounds. The Shops at Wailea are across the street. There’s many choices for food, snacks, drinks, ice cream etc. The team working the valet hustles. I have not waited more than 5 min for my car yet and the hotel is currently at capacity. The hotel has fireworks at 9pm that are amazing on certain evenings. Definitely check this place out and check out the deals they offer.

Wow, what a beautiful resort. I arrived about a month after the fires in Lahaina, so it was not very crowded in the Wailea area. I asked if I could upgrade to the napua rooms so I would have lounge access, they said yes for an extra fee. The upgraded room was similar to the room I booked, but had extra larger deck overlooking the resort and the ocean with wonderful loungers. The food in the lounge for breakfast was really good but the evening pupus were just so so. I did eat them as my dinner since I wasn't a big eater, but most would find it's not enough for dinner! Service at the resort was awesome. Food ordered down by the pool was very good and so was the service. I rented a cabana one day and it came with snacks and fruit, and treats! The pools were warm in the afternoon. I didn't like how close the pool chairs were and how hard they were so that's why I upgraded to a cabana, even though it was very pricey! There's a tommy bahama store in the shopping area of the resort, and it's a short walk to the shops at Wailea. You can get food on property or walk to the shopping center. Parking was valet only, ouch.

I am very disappointed in the Grand Wailea. I am scheduled to stay here in April and I was notified today that their buffet at Ikena is unavailable the entire month of April 2024. I booked this stay with 330k points in August and I just now find out about this. They have been horrible about getting back to me and answering my calls. Shameful really. So warning to anyone coming in April 2024 - no buffet offered, just a la carte. Luckily, their website doesn't say this anywhere so I would check if you are planning on eating the buffet.

Hmmm, this place has changed! From the get go We had a valet w an attitude. He told me they do not park motorcycles & he was born & raised here. Hmmm I wasn't able to put together what it meant. I told him my husband's grandfather was raised here. He treated me like white trash. Not expected. No fresh flower lei, nobody said Aloha - something was missing..... The valet parker yelled at me with my one bag " do u need help? No thanks I know my way to Napua Tower. I've stayed there a few times After 3 nights we felt relaxed & decided to move on to our condo rented for 5 weeks. Security followed us . It was uncomfortable so I asked him to go ahead of me. He asked if we needed help We said no no help we parked our motorcycle by ourself & we will retrieve it by ourselves.. He was very rude and explained valet parking costs $45 a night. He spoke as of this were "law & we were breaking the law' I kissed his butt & said we're sorry we did not follow the rules! We promise to next time - we will follow the rules! We promise !!!!!!!! We stay here once a year Maybe the Ritz next year.... I did not feel the love at all.....,...

Second time staying, the first was 18 years ago. Staff was attentive and very helpful. Not one bad interaction during the whole stay. The grounds looked fantastic. The beach was great and we could sit and watch the whales! Highlight of the trip. Overall the resort looked in need of repairs. Fountains not working, lots of irregularities on walkways that created tripping hazard…etc. The smell of mildew was overpowering in our room, fortunately had a decent supply of allergy meds to ward off the sneezes. Probably would not go back.

One of the nicest resorts we have ever stayed at. The grounds are amazing, the room was beautiful and the views are some of the best you could ask for. Even with all of that said, the best part of the stay were the employees, everyone was so friendly and helpful. Special shout out to Gilbert at the front desk. He made sure we were taken care of and made our stay extra special. 10 out of 10

We just returned from a wonderful week at the Grand Wailea. We had honeymooned at Fairmont Kea Lani in 2015 and considered all the Wailea properties before settling on Grand Wailea. I was accompanied by my wife & 7 year old daughter, here is a breakdown of our trip: Room - We booked a deluxe ocean view room and was given 7093. - We enjoyed the location, sure it was a decent walk to the pools and everywhere else, but I didn't mind it due to the beautiful surroundings, and the need to be active to get rid of the added weight gained! I read previous reviews speaking to the distance you have to walk to the pools & beach, but after experiencing it first hand I thought those reviews were exaggerated. - The room was spacious enough for us, we considered upgrading to a suite, but opted to use that money for other vacation items. Fairmont rooms are certainly much larger (as is Venitian/Palazzo in Vegas), but we enjoyed the views and spending time on the balcony relaxing (and looking for whales, which were really active). - TV channels & outlets to charge our devices were plentiful and the bathroom was very spacious. - There is a refrigerator in the rooms with refillable water bottles, which was great, however, there is no microwave (more on that later). Pools - This is where we spent the bulk of our time. Our daughter absolutely loved the huge activity pool and all that was attached to it, including the slides, rope swing, and lazy river, we all had so much fun here. After reading all the negative reviews here about getting chairs I was worried and went down at 7:30 AM on the first day and found every option available to us so the next day we slept in more and arrived at 8:30 AM and still had a ton of great options with umbrellas available. - I was able to sneak away to the Hibiscus (adults only) Pool a few times to enjoy a quieter experience and just relax in the pool or hot tub a bit before heading back to the fun-filled activity pool & slides. - The slides & rope swing opened at 10:30 AM each day, which seemed like a bummer at first, but once we came down later each day we adjusted to that and enjoyed the quiet before everything fully opened. - The desk to get your wristbands had some big lines after 10 AM, but getting there early helped get ahead of that. The workers there were super friendly and helpful. - We rented a cabana one day (steep price of $1,350, but we really enjoyed it and hope to come with another family next year to help split the cost up and do multiple days with a cabana). Service - We experienced great service everywhere on the property. The poolside service was great, very speedy and friendly. - Check in/check out employees were very friendly and helpful, the scavenger hunt for kids is fun and they get a nice prize if/when they complete it. - Management is definitely reading reviews here because I read many complaints about unattended chairs, we witnessed multiple employees marking unattended chairs and when they came back around if they were still unattended they removed the towels & items off the chairs to free them up for guests who wanted to use them. Based on our experience this week I would suggest getting down to the pools no later than 9 AM to avoid stressing over this, but maybe it was a less busy week than normal and we were lucky? - The staff put out pool toys/floaties each day around the activity desk, which was a nice surprise. Our daughter used a pool noodle and floatie about every day and just would return it as we headed back to our room each afternoon. Property It's such a massive property with shops on site and beautiful views everywhere you turn, I couldn't stop taking photos & videos due to how awesome it was. Food - It's pricey, but we braced for that going in. $4 for a single banana, $11 milkshakes, $16 grilled cheese, etc., there are ways to help with that, which we learned the hard way and will take advantage of more next time. - Disappointing that there is a $50 charge for a microwave, especially given the fact the portion sizes are really big. The $12 side of fries easily fed the 3 of us so that made the cost for those more reasonable. Other items had very generous portions as well, being able to take it to the room and heat up leftovers the next day would've been a great option, next time it may be worth the $50 charge on day one to have that microwave. - Heading over to the Shops at Wailea was a quick walk and presented some cheaper options as well. - The breakfast buffet is great, lots of birds waiting for us to finish, but it's a beautiful place to enjoy breakfast with great food. - My favorite meal was on site at Olivine (kids pasta was $22 there, which is crazy high, but my $52 wagyu bolognese dish was one I would gladly get again). - Having reusable water bottles in the room was awesome and the refill stations throughout the property helped reduce cost with that, very nice. Cons - The biggest thing I would love to see when we return to Grand Wailea is some sort of kids club. I know Four Seasons has this and I would love to see GW offer some variation of this as well, to particularly help kids who are there without siblings or friends to meet others like them, which would help make their stay more enjoyable. - No microwave in the room was disappointing. I'm not going to list price as a con because if you are going to Wailea in general you know it's going to be super pricey (expect food and drink prices like you see at a MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL game, take a trip to a store on the first day to help with snacks, too). Summary If you have kids and want to stay in Maui then I don't know how you beat Grand Wailea. My daughter cried hard when it was time to leave and said this was her favorite place she's ever been. We walked to the other Wailea properties on the awesome trail, and came to the conclusion that while our daughter is young that this is the place we'll be returning to, we can't wait to come back!

This was our fourth visit to the Grand Wailea. We spent the first three nights at the Halekulani on Oahu and the resorts are so different. No one at the Grand Wailea acknowledges your prior three stays while the Halekuklani gives us the same connecting rooms each time we go (side note, Grand Wailea surprisingly does not have connecting rooms and offers no discount for families with older children that want two rooms). Grand Wailea is a diluted Hilton experience with amazing pools and grounds (they do an excellent job maintaining the grounds). Here is what we really liked: (i) pools, pools, pools (and the Grotto in pool bar), (ii) Botero lounge is a lot of fun and neat menu and creative drinks but ridiculously expensive, (iii) the beautiful grounds, (iv) the new technology that uses your phone as the hotel key, (v) how much out kids love the pools! What we didn't like: (i) the lack of any personalized service, (ii) FIX THE WATER ELEVATOR - I think they are choosing NOT to fix it - it has been out of service for three years now, (iii) the cabanas are not worth $1,200 - they should have an app that allows you to order food and drinks on a priority basis - you need to wait for an attendant to stop by. We appreciate the eco friendly water bottles but there needs to be more water stations.

We are at the Grand Wailea now and I felt compelled to write a review as some of the reviews that I read before had me nervous about our choice. My family and I have traveled a lot! (Turks, Aruba, Costa Rica, Europe etc) and This is one of my favorite resorts and places ever!. The service, rooms, and overall experience is exceptional! First of all, as soon as we arrived we were upgraded by (I believe Joseph) to a Napua room which has access to amazing free breakfast, snack. It was such a surprise. We were welcomed with a big Aloha and Leo’s. The concierge, beach staff, housekeepers and everyone is beyond friendly and welcoming! While getting chairs at the beach can be hard with patience we always got one. The pool is warm and amazing and the beach beyond amazing! Service pool side was good. Our ocean view room is breath taking. We never waited long for our car, they had towels for excursions and booked anything we requested before. My one and only feedback is the humuhumunnukunukupaua restaurant wasn’t our favorite. Expensive and food not our favorite. But service was great. I would not do seaside experience and maybe just go to bar area. But the view is beautiful. Surf Haas and Taco food stand delicious! Everyone was very welcoming and not once were we made to feel not welcome. Maui is a special place and I think anything overly negative is from folks who need some perspective.
