The view from the lodge looking over the Shenandoah Valley is priceless and changes every 10 minutes. The lodge has many different types of rooms. We stayed in the Laurel building this trip. Ok room....plumbing that makes a lot of noise....but room access is easy from the parking. We saw a deer and her one week old fawn 60 feet... More

Our family of five enjoyed staying in this cute cabin right located in Shenandoah National Park on Skyland Dr. If you enter on Hwy 211, you go south until just a little past mile marker 41. Go to the main office and they will give your keys. We stayed in a cabin with two queen beds and one twin bed... More

A first trip to Skyland for a wedding, and the place is amazing. It is not for every one, and far from a luxury type place, but it is perfect if you like nature. It is located pretty high up in the VA mountains, in the National Park, the drive is a bit un-nerving as the roads are nothing but... More

I've been going to Skyland for the past 25 years, and always felt I was getting my money's worth and more. Great place for family vacations and great meals in the lodge dining room. I returned this weekend after new management apparently took over last year. The rates have increased well above the value of a stay in one of... More

Skyland is not for everybody. It is like a step back in time. I will admit my first time there caught me unprepared for what I found. No phone in the room, no TV, no air conditioner. That was more than 25 years ago. Skyland is treasure sitting right there on the top of the mountain, overlooking the beautiful Shenandoah... More

While the word resort can mean many things this fits into the typical national park definition of somewhat Spartan. The area and views afforded are resort quality but the amenities are Spartan. That said it is nice to have somewhere to stay that has less luxury but more great natural beauty. The room we stayed in had a great view... More

My husband & I stayed at Skyland for our late-spring honeymoon trip. Although we loved our room, the Main Office and Dining Services will probably prevent us from returning to Skyland. We loved our room (Raven's Nest) which seemed clean & felt both comfy and spacious, even if overpriced. (Of course, we also loved the Park; so many trails!) Unfortunately,... More

Keep in mind that the reason you've come is for the breathtaking scenery, access to exceptional recreational activities and countless wildlife viewing opportunities - don't be fooled by the word "resort." Skyland is rustic, no frills lodging with limited amenities and the occasional spider and millipede! You may or may not have a tv in your room (we did -... More

I enjoyed my stay at the Skyland Resort. We were in the lodge and the view from our balcony was fantastic. It is rustic with their panelled walls, but the room was clean and the beds comfy. Also, we were treated to a buffet for both dinner and breakfast and both were yummy. The pina colada at dinner was delicious.

Since, there are very few choices of food in Shenandoah valley and this is the first dining place when you enter the Skyline drive after visiting the Luray Caverns, this is the most obvious choice for people to replenish themselves during the lunch time, and that's exactly what we did. First of all there was a huge anaconda snake like... More
