This is a DOD military property so you have to be military or have someone sponsor you to stay here. That said, you can't beat the price for the location. This room had the most amazing view of the ocean, but there is no question the room is a bit dated... Nothing major, but you can tell the furnishings have... More

Great stay. Stayed as a guest with my son and his family. Perfect location for walking along Waikiki, shops, bars etc. The gorunds were fantastic, pool and decent restaurants. You cant beat the cost.....I've stayed almost in every Hotel here and this is the best value by far if tyou have a connection.

Fair price on room and at restuarants and bar. The Barefoot Bar is an excellent place to watch the sun set and have fair priced cocktails. Also free music during the evenings at The Barefoot Bar. I prefer the Maile Tower. Adult swimming pool for those who don't want to be with children. The pool by the beach alternates with... More

I don't know where to start! When I first started searching for our honeymoon, we had no idea where to look. We're from Florida, so we looked at all the inclusive resorts in the Caribbean, but saw the prices and wanted to keep searching. Then, Hawaii came to find. Neither of us have been there and we wanted to do... More

I stayed here courtesy of my Son-in-Law, who is Army. The only way you can stay here is either being in the military or having someone sponsor you. The property is very nice, on the beach and right next to the Hilton Hawaiian Village. While the rooms may be a little small, when in your in Hawaii, you don't spend... More

This is a DoD resort. The Hale Koa staff was great, amenities plentiful, the beach was the best in Waikiki. We had a partial ocean view -- at the end of the hallway- room 1402 - it was fabulous! We were able to see sunrise over the mountains through our picture window, and the ocean from our balcony. I will... More

Able to stay due to Navy nephew - a great bargain on the Waikiki beach. Orientation should include explanation of trolley/buses rather than focusing on the tours offered at the hotel. Check-in and response to emails is slow. Food choices - restaurants offering different fare, light on vegetarian choices. Comfortable, nothing fancy. Rooms are clean, safe area. Adding wifi to... Our family has stayed at the Hale Koa twice, once in 2012 and again in May, 2013. It is a beautiful hotel that serves our active and retired military personnel and their guests. Each service member can sponsor up to three rooms. This year we booked rooms for my husband and I, our two adult sons, and a third room... More

Hale Koa...it feels like home! Prices are still extremely reasonable especially for the best strip of beach on Waikiki. Guests get same discounts as sponsors, even at the BX. Booked a year in advance, Ilima Tower. Airport shuttle goes to Waikiki hotels, much lower cost than taxis, get round-trip savings. Arrived Tues 2:30pm and no line. The Employee of the... More

I love the Hale Koa. I stay there every time I go to Honolulu. It is family friendly and adult friendly with well priced restaurants and AAFES store. The only problem is that there always seems to be a line at the reception desk. It probably wouldn't hurt to add another receptionist.
