Anchuca B&B shares space with one of the few remaining historic mansions in Vicksburg. The guest rooms are refurbished slave quarters (it IS the antebellum south!). We stayed in Room 2 and it is gorgeous. All of the furnishings are perfectly coordinated and beautiful, the room is spacious and comfortable, the bathroom is the biggest you'll find in a B&B.... We were very disappointed. The first impression was a good one - but the suprise happened at night. They had installed a big heater right behind the head end of our bed. Whenever somebody turned on water the engine started to roar. Around 4 in the morning for the first time, from then on every 20 minutes. That wasn´t exactly... More

Our family stayed here during Spring Break, and only one night as we were just passing through. We will definitely return. Tom, Chris and Sandra are wonderful hosts. The meals delicious and the accommodations were lovely, comfortable and very clean. Having been driving around the southeast looking at colleges, Anchuca was a beautiful and restful way to wrap up the... More

Very few B&B's cater to families, but our 10 year old was made to feel most welcome, and came away "wanting to someday own a B&B just like Anchuca." The food was excellent, I highly recommend the Shrimp & Grits in Cafe Anchuca. Four spoons! Tom, Chris, and the staff of Anchuca worked overtime to make our stay in Vicksburg... More

Our room was very nice with all the amenities. The mansion is beautiful, and so are the grounds. This was our first time to stay at a B&B and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The breakfast was absolutely amazing!!! I don't eat grits, but their cheese grits were fabulous. Staff was so very friendly. If we go to Vicksburg again, we... More

We used Vicksburg as a half way stop on the way to New Orleans....and strictly from Trip Adv. comments, did we choose Anchuka...Thankfully, it was a wise choice. Altho the town of Vicksburg isnt near what it was, especially with the depressed downtown area, its still an interesting place and one could find enough to do here, to spend a... More

After reading the other reviews I can't think of anything else to add, but Tripadvisor won't accept anything less than 200 words, so I'll say it again - outstanding food, beautiful building, comfortable room, friendly staff.

Thanks to Tom, Chris, Lisa, and everyone at Anchuca. The antebellum home has been carefully and exquisitely restored. The furnishings are of the period and create a warm atmosphere. We stayed in one of the carriage house rooms; it was comfortable and had everything we needed, including a refrigerator. Breakfasts were generous and delicious. We would definitely stay here again.

Anchuca is my very favorite location we have stayed overnight. We stayed in the carriage house room. It is so quaint and comfortable. Love the gas fireplace. The grounds are awesome. The Cafe where one of the owners is the resident chef, was also one of the best meals we have had on our travels, and we were in New... More

The wife and I and our small dog stayed three nights at Anchuca. It was our first stay in Vicksburg, and we found the whole older part of town to be charming. I know that's not a guy kind of word, but it fits here. Since we had a dog with us, we stayed in one of the four side... More
