I have stayed in Madison Campgrounds 6 times now over the last 8 years and will continue to in the future. Its only a 15 minute drive to the town of West Yellowstone, Old Faithful and lots of other park features. The staff is frendly and knowledgeable. Its right on the banks of the Madison River with lots of very... More

My family went to Madison in the summer of 2012. It was in a great location. Very close to the town of West Yellowstone and Old Faithful. Some sights were a bit further, but living in NY, we went to go see them all. At first, we weren't so happy that there weren't showers, but we found a place down... More

Madison Campground is a great family spot to visit Yellowstone National Park; located where the Firehole and Gibbon Rivers meet to form the Madison River. While the campground was designed some decades ago, the prime contractor (Xanterra) has done what the National Park Service allows to keep the place updated. If you are looking for a camp site with full... More

We stayed at Madison Campground in October. While it was definately not as private as some campgrounds we have stayed at, it was clean and served the purpose. It did have a good location for us to get to several hikes nearby. It is Yellowstone and it's huge so plan on driving to get to some of the major sites... More

Stayed here Oct 9 and 10, 2012. Cold nights and sunny days. No hook ups at this location. However we could have a campfire which surprised me given how dry it is. It was a good central location for day trips around the park.

If you are looking for a fall camping trip, this is the place. They do not have showers or elcetricity but what they do have is the most fantastic scenery when you wake until you shut your eyses at night. The bathrooms are kept very clean and the it is one of the few places in the park you don't... More

I have stayed in the Madison campground 3 years in a row and plan on staying again this year (2012). The site is nicely situated most of the geyser basins, Old Faithful, and the town of West Yellowstone, all are within a 15 minute drive. Fly fishing, Bald Eagle sighting, Elk and Bison watching along the Madison River are great!

Madison campground is a beautiful location on the Madison River, along which I could walk and watch elk. Madison is a prime location for accessing Old Faithful and the geyser basins on the west side. There was not much privacy in my camp loop. I actually drove the road to West Yellowstone to get private time early evening. After a... More

I can't believe this place has 4-stars on here. The camp sites are all right on top of each other and you practically build your fire and pitch your tent on the road since the sites are so small. People kept walking through our site to use the bathroom which was super annoying. I know Yellowstone can be crowded and... More

Thankfully we had booked in advance as the site was full on arrival and when we got to our pitch is was evident that it indeed was . Neighbouring tents were only a spit away all be it set in a lovely wooded area. The facilities were clean and tidy and well organised but the close proximity of other campers... More
