My husband and I stayed at the Lewis Lake Campground (in a tent) for our first night in Yellowstone. We arrived around 9pm and found a great spot with no trouble. We tent camped here for 4 nights. The setting is really nice, amongst the trees and close to a pretty lake with great sunsets - also very cheap. Many people were bringing boats. Our experience was virtually identical to the previous reviewer. We reserved a site at Grant Village (see my separate review "Grant Central Station") and it was so noisy and jammed in with other campsites that we couldn't stand it. “Nice, quiet campground, MUCH better than Grant Village!”

We had reservations at Grant Village Campground. After we checked in and found that our site had little if any privacy and was jammed in with other campsites, we hightailed it down to Lewis Lake Campground-- we got a really nice site, very private with lots of trees.
