The place is old, but is well maintained and the beds comfortable. We had a room with a king sized bed and a private bath. This is a historic hotel and it wouldn't be the same experience if it was brought up to modern standards. We visited at the end of May and the room could get a little warm... More

My husband and I spent the weekend at Wawona while enjoying the beauty of Yosemite Park. We booked into the hotel with full knowledge that it was an old hotel and was going to have those quirks associated with older buildings. We had read about loud rooms, uncomfortable beds and high heat, yet that is not what we experienced. The... More

This is a review and critique of the Wawona Hotel in Yosemite National Park, California. This hotel was so bad we actually began to laugh at our stay. It provided many laughs, mostly for its incompetences. Fawlty Towers on an American scale!! The cost of our no bathroom, no air con, no TV, no Fridge room was exactly the same... More

This is a great historic Victorian Hotel in a great setting. Unfortunately the hotel is getting very tired and needs attention. I have no problem with the fact that most rooms have no en suite facilities but some of the rooms are very cramped and exceedingly hot. The restaurant is not as good as it was. We have been four... My son and I stayed here four nights. My advice to anyone that reads this is to stay elsewhere. A better area is the Yosemite Valley. Wanona, even though it is inside the park, it is not close to most of the sights other than Mariposa Grove. If you do make the mistake of staying here: 1. Ask for earplugs.... More

I am compelled to write this review because my family and I are lovers of both Yosemite and our National Parks, and we were appalled by our very recent stay at the Wawona. We booked a room for 4 -- we are a couple with two boys -- and we expected not luxury, but beds for all. When we opened... More

This is an older hotel, and it's one of the few in the area that still had vacancies when we were visiting. I expected the food to be expensive since it's in the park. I did like being in an older hotel, with the old-fashioned tub and other details. But I can't emphasize enough how thin the outer walls are.... More

First-time to visit, last time to stay. The hotel is in a wonderful historical setting, with so much americana history available to appreciate...too bad the staff wasn't able to reflect that to guests. Front desk personnel was disheveled in appearance, reflecting later the management care of room cleanliness and service. Like many of the other guests that stayed in a... More

First-time visitor to Yosemite. Chose the Wawona to be close to friends who had rented a cabin nearby. Three-night stay. Nice historical building. Very expensive for two star quality. Got room with private bath. No hot water at arrival, nor at the morning we left. Very noisy, especially from bathroom to neighboring room (possibility for connecting rooms). Probably more disturbing... More

I should have known from the first night that this was going to a miserable place. We got there Saturday for their BBQ and I paid $23 for ribs (at least what they called ribs). They must have been 30% cartilage and 30% fat. The rooms are hot and do not have good sound insulation. We had a room with... More
