If you need to stay close to Cardiff airport for a period of time I would not hesitate to recommend the Bear Hotel in Cowbridge. It is about a 10-12 min drive but gets you into a very nice little town with excellent pubs, shops and resturants. Make the Bear your base and you wont be disappointed.
