We stayed at Kakapo Lodge together with another family. I couldn't fault it. Warm, very clean, airy, and with everything you need. The hosts were fantastic - knowledgeable and helpful, and friendly. The location is great, being a few minutes walk from the pools and the town centre, as well as a few minutes from the bike and walking tracks.... More

We stayed two nights and enjoyed our time here, friendly helpful owners lovely and quiet at night only 2 mins from pools but just far enough from centre to avoid noise from late night revellers, good bed and amenities and the place was SPOTLESS excellent value for money.... My friends and I stayed for one night and wished we were staying longer. The staff here are friendly and the hostel is extremely clean. The rooms are a good size - enough space for suitcases etc. and it was very quiet at night. Easy walk to town and hot pools.

I really enjoyed my one night at YHA Kakapo. The rooms and kitchen are spotless, with heaps of kitchen gear adn stacks of clean t-towels. The room was quiet adn clean and I had a good nights sleep. There were lots of younger folks but older ones like me are very welcome.

Very warm & comfortable with the underfloor heating. Laundry facilities were the best we have experienced. Cosy, warm fire. Great hospitality. Excellent for YHA. Best yet by far.

We stayed at this YHA on a trip aound Nne Zealand.It had an excellent location and l would recommend hamner Springs.this was our 2nd visit to this little town.The Yha was okay,but the kitchen smelt as there were no extracor fans in it.the hostle alos did not have kitchen and food handling rules evident in the Franz Josek and Wanaka... The hostel is located quite near to the 'central area' of Hamner Springs. Parking space is available, and outside is a nice courtyard.
