Having experienced some examples of poorly run hotels in the remoter parts of Scotland we were not too sure what to expect. We were very pleasantly surprised and please to have a warm welcome, clean comfortable rooms, good dinner and breakfast; all done with a smile.

Arrived at this place to meet some friends around 8 at night without a reservation. The owners were very friendly and offered a room for reasonable price. They made me feel very welcome right away. The hotel is in a lovely location with fantastic view from the restaurant. Food was fabulous. I had a great stay and WolfTrax is just... More

We stayed here accidentally after our initial plans fell through; we had spent the day mountain biking at Wolftrax and this hotel is just down the road. The owner was incredibly friendly right from the initial phone conversation and we felt relaxed and welcome as soon as we arrived. The location is incredible and recent renovations in the bar and... We visited the Monarch on Friday evening having escaped the kids for a couple of hours. We had not booked but were made to feel very welcome. The hotel is in a stunning location though it can be difficult to find and from the outside may not appear to be the sort of place that you could just pop into... More

Called into this hotel early in the evening without a booking and were accommodated for dinner. The meal was superb with the four of us ordering different choices from the menu. The food was modern and brought to the table at the same time. We were not rushed, the wine was topped up as needed and the owner, Neil was... More

Have visited the hotel several times for drinks and food as a friend has a house in Laggan. The place has undergone an amazing transformation since Neil and Annie took over. Having spent a wonderful Hogmanay at the Monarch it was great to come back so quickly. We had a superb dinner (and great wine!). The dining area is clean,... More

A trip to the Scottish Highlands in mid winter was not what we had always envisioned, however we were in Edinburgh an decided to explore a little more. Lucky for us we were able to find this gem of a hotel. Having travelled a lot all over I do always value honest and frank TripAdvisor reviews, and read them to... More

We booked this as a family overnight for New Year's Eve (Hogmanay in Scotland) and to say it was a fabulous night is an understatement! The hotel is ideally placed in the Scottish Highlands. Its in a quiet, picturesque spot built next to some amazing old historic ruins (Got to be seen at night..wow!)! We were welcomed by friendly faces... More

We stumbled upon this hotel as my partner and I was driving through the Highlands just a day before the Old Year's night. The hotel is quaint and has a lot of character. New owners - Neil and his wife - seem to have put a lot of thought and heart in their venture. Particularly lovely was the fire place... More
