We visited Sunil quite a few times during our stay in Unawatuna. It has the best coffee in the area, and the most dependably good food. We loved the tuna satays and the salads, as well as the breakfast scones. The service in this place isn't the best in the world; the staff can seem a bit stand-offish. Compared to... More

We walked in and were completely deceived by the nice looks of this place... I ordered the 'master burger' which was meant to be chicken, however it was processed slices of god knows what... When I asked to send it back I was told no and then when I asked to have something else they refused, he also called other... More

The photos does not do this place justice! Its a very European, cozy guesthouse and coffee bar with an amazing garden that has nice cozy nooks with pillows, pathways, fountains and hidden little gems throughout!! The staff there was friendly, extremely accommodating and the food was great. Waking up to have breakfast in in garden in the morning was an... More

The rooms are ok but the whole place is dodgy! this place looks like such a cool chill out/ healthy eating place but DON'T BE FOOLED!!!! Chicken salad was ok but came with sliced white bread and oil?? Weird!! The chicken burger took this crap place to a whole new level! Seriously you cannot promote yourself as a nature/ health... We were already some days in Unawatuna till the owner of the Hibiscus Villa drawed attention on the Sunil Garden and Restaurant. The relative small entrance gives way to a big garden where you can sit and eat in the shade of numerous tropical trees. The food is very tastefull with an eye for details. So you also get some... We stayed at Sunil for 5 nights and enjoyed the stay actually - the room wasn't spectacular, but quite spacious and relatively clean, what makes the place especially nice is the garden, which is a good place to relax, rest, enjoy some of the foods and drinks which are really tasty. We had a lot of food and drinks there... More

We enjoyed Sunil's so much we went twice in one day. The garden is a shady retreat and we had our favourite Dilmah tea served attentively in beautiful white china. Whilst I usually try to eat local when on holiday we had a sticky toffee pudding (his favourite) and I had a sublime chocolate brownie. Not your usual fudgy sticky... More

Can not recommend Sunil. It's fine rooms, but it is also everything. I stayed there with my girlfriend, and personalt was very eager to get her to the party. We were there for only 1 night because they were too much. When we were checking out, they were so pissed that we only have 1 night, so they put 25%... More

walking by, i was impressed with the ambience and vibe by this place. tested the place and was very disappointed. The staff were rude, gave me a wrong wifi password because apparently "i just ordered a coke". Despite several asks, i was unable to chill with my laptop comfortably at this joint. On top, there are alot of mosquitos here.... More

Travelling on my own Sri Lanka could get a bit much. The humidity plus the constant male attention could wear me out. Thankfully Sunil Garden was a fantastic retreat from the first time I walked in. It is a beautiful garden with easily the best coffee I've had in Sri Lanka. The food is great and the cakes are so... More
