This was our 4th trip to the Lazy Duck, previously we have camped twice and once we stayed in the hostel. There is no doubt the surroundings are very lovely and to be honest on previous stays we did have any real complaints... the owners although lovely are a little overbearing and sometimes slightly intrusive but maybe that was just... Oh dear, what a shame that your 4th visit to us was spoiled by a worry over the electric fence. This was a necessary precaution to safeguard campers from the intrusive noses of our new born Soay lambs which are far too inquisitive for their own good. Your concern is quite understandable; we apologise and yes, last year one other... More

I'm a bit surprised by the negative review below but David's response is spot on. In short, this campsite does not dress itself to be anything it's not. And what it is, is an environmentally friendly haven. If that means you leave your car on the gravel and not on the grass then so be it! We spent a few... More

We stayed 3 nights at the campsite and 'upgraded' for the fourth to the Lazy Duck Hostel. The campsite was lovely and small, and we liked the fact that a pitch is kept in reserve for people travelling under their own steam. The wet weather shelter, where you can cook, eat and relax was a very welcome 'extra' as we... More

We stayed for two nights at the lazy duck and thought it was lovely and relaxed. You are free to roam in a lovely setting and the facilities are good. I was a bit dubious about the bush shower but was won over when I tried it.... a cubicle with a view! I do think you'd have to be rather... More

Quite simply put The Lazy Duck is true camping perfection. My wife and I found “The Duck” in Apil 2011, and wished we could have stayed more than just two nights. [ If however, your idea of camping is huge tents, big crowds, car radios blaring, dogs barking children wailing, tinnes/bonfires till dawn………than best to avoid here! Its not for... More

I saw the Lazy Duck listed in the Scottish edition of the Cool Camping guides and having been to other sites reviewed in the book but finding they were not always as great as the write up i wasn't exactly sure what to expect at the Lazy Duck. I almost feel i shouldn't write a review at all as it... More

If you are looking forward spending time in this relaxing environment make sure to make reservations, otherwise there is a possibility that there is no pitch left and you will miss a splendid experience. That the campsite offers room for 4 tents is not a real downsite, it keeps it kind and exclusive. The site is beautifully situated in a... More

We stayed at the Lazy Duck for one night, en route to the North. It was well worth the scenic trip off the A9 (though directions were lacking and signage couldn't been better). The facilities were great - the shelter and indoor sink area were very welcome. We both LOVED the bush shower - the most refreshing. The normal campsite... More

Stayed at lazy duck sept 09, nice location very tranquil but a few reservations the first and foremost the bush shower is totally unacceptable. great in middle of summer but not at the end of september and as there was no alternative shower for those who did not want a bush shower I thought this was very poor. We were... More

Feedback on what we do at the Lazy Duck Hostel and Campsite is always welcome and we thank everyone for their contributions. For the avoidance of doubt though may we clarify the following:- The bush shower for campers is provided with hot and cold water and is exactly as described on our website and literature. It is used successfully at... More
