This hotel is overpriced and badly managed. The"large" twin bed turned out to be 1m20 wide, tucked away under a slanted roof, with no space to walk around. Mediocre breakfast, no croissants, no fresh orange juice. Don't bother complaining, you will not get any service. The price of the room is almost twice that of a reputable hotel

Nice outdoor seating at the center of Bronkhorst that serve's great salads, omelets and Dutch specialties for lunch. We had the salmon omelet and the beef teriyaki tenderloin tips salad whit the local white beer; good choice.

To celebrate a Birthday we booked the Culinary Arrangement, 1 night including Breakfast and a 6 course Dinner for 2 couples. We were assigned an appartment which more than met our requirements and the 6 course Dinner was of a very high order. The service was friendly and attentive both in the restaurant, bar and reception. A period building in a period village ( officially it is a city) in a part of the Netherlands that is ideal for cycling or walking holidays. A little gem and highly recommended.

Stopt for drinks. Friendly staff, somewhat pushy if we wanted a second round of drinks. 1st round wasn’t even finished and they all ready asked for a second round. Disappointment was obvious when we said we only wanted one round of drinks. Didn’t really check the prices but found a small glass (20cl at the most) of (supposedly) fresh orange juice for €4,50 very high. Not convinced if I want to come back, but everybody deserves a second chance, so who knows......

The "Gouden Leeuw" is situated in a tiny village of about 10 or 15 houses; The hotels itself is really beautiful and cosy. They also have a small parking lot. Lady at the front desk was very friendly when we arrived. The room was cosy (we only stayed for 1 night) with a beautiful renovated bath room. I booked a table in the restaurant of the hotel. First we drank something in the bar. As we checked in we received a coupon for free "Bitterballen". I had to ask the waiter twice if we could order something to drink. He arrived then with a sour face because we interrupted his chat with one of his colleagues. Afterwards he forgot the bitterballen. (no sorry of course.....) At dinner the story continued. I had a 4 course menu and my wife a steak. I had to wait 2 hours for my and my wifes main course (first there was cold fish and than a soup for me) I had to ask the waiter twice for the soup. After two hours we asked the waiter for the main course and said we were there already for 2 hours. He then said to my wife that time would go quicker if she drank wine. (my wife has an alcolhol allergy). Furthermore he said this on a tone that half the restaurant could hear it. Finally the main course arrived and guess what : my wife asked a non alcoholic sauce with her steak or simply no sauce (if the non alcolholic would be a problem). The sauce was with Madeira wine and was on the steak. So steak returned to the kitchen. to return immediately without sauce......(you can imagine what they did with the steak in the kitchen) . We were not alone in the restaurant to wait for hours..... People who arrived way after us, got their dishes first and people who where there before us got their dishes after us. What we ate was OK and not bad. Breakfast next morning was totally OK. Normally is should give this hotel 4 points, but due to the impoliteness of that waiter and the total lack of organisation in the restaurant I give it only a 1. I had the impression that there was no-one really in charge in the restaurant. (Another waiter talked for over 1/2 hour with the table next to us about wine, while dirty dishes stayed on other tables etc..... )

We went back to this hotel because we got married here 20 years ago. To go all the way back we booked the honeymoon suite which was confirmed by email. The hotel is still a beautiful charming place on a special location in the smallest city of the Netherlands. Unfortunately we didn’t get the honeymoon suite despite our special request and confirmation. We got another suite which was nice but it spoiled the reason for our return to this hotel. We didn’t get the in the confirmation mentioned sparkling aperitif but we didn’t bother to mention it either. The second room we booked for our daughters wasn’t properly booked by the hotel but they solved that instantly. The rooms are cosy but need to be renovated, especially the bathroom. If you pay for a suite, it needs to be good and there aren’t supposed to be holes in the bath or woodwork that desperately needs painting. Because of the old building the rooms are quite noisy. We had a lovely dinner and the staff was very friendly. Food was good on a decent level of price vs quality. Different than our experiences 20 years ago but in line with the vision of the current owner to focus on a broader audience with less luxury. Definitely a special place to visit!

What a wonderful little town, 140 inhabitants, fantastic Gem jeweler and statues shop. Great to shop the 6 shops and then rest and get fed with delicious Salmon omelet and burger. We left with the best memories and certainly will be back!

Booked two appartments for eight people months in advance. Upon arrival there’s only 1 appartment available, with eight beds like sardines in a tin, with one bed in the kitchen... There were people in my party who had never met, who ended up having to share a bed. No phone call beforehand, no apologies when we arrived, just this elaborate story about how things went ‘wrong’ and it proved to be a ‘challenge’. Very obviously rehearsed and definitely not the first time they did this. And then they proceeded to try and charge us the same amount of money we would have had to pay had we actually just booked the one appartment for eight people! I told them no. A very unpleasant start of a birthday weekend. They get to charge exponentially more for the appartment if there’s more people residing in it. So it’s a much better deal for them to overbook and not be upfront about it. Unprofessional, disrespectful and unhospitable.

very nice hotel and great food. We had lunch and diner at the hotel and both were great. The rooms are very nice, clean and everything is there. THere's enough to do around the small village so you don't have to get bored.

We had booked a luxury diner + overnight room + breakfast for a special price (I have also reviewed the restaurant separately) and enjoyed our whole stay. The staff is very nice, the room (a suite) large and pleasant. Large and good bathroom too. There were some strange noises in the evening and morning, as if heavy objects were falling or doors slammed, but this didn't happen at night. The breakfast is good but basic. Nowadays many hotels will have a self-service coffee machine for fresh coffee, but here they use thermos bottles. And the eggs are either hard boiled or scrambled. Many hotels offer a larger choice of preparations nowadays. But otherwise it's OK. And Bronkhorst is so charming!
