Went to the Low House for lunch after cycling 15 miles to get to it! but have been a few times previously on four mechanical wheels... Laxfield itself is a lovely unspoilt Suffolk village and the Low House compliments its environment perfectly, overlooking a magnificent church. The main draw for aficionados of real ale will be the well kept Adnams... More

For those looking for a completely unspoilt unpretentious pub that feels like it hasn't changed for over a hundred years, this is it. Alongside 'The Harrow' in Petersfield Hants which is out of the same mould this is sheer magic. But it's Bob & Linda (landlords) with everything else about the Low House that makes it my No1 in The... More

While visiting the area went out for a Saturday night meal with a three friends . A throw back to the 19th Century this pub has character in boat loads. Old world furnishings (the real thing not retro) Fine ales and tasty if simple food. The Steak and Ale pie with mash and 2 veg was cooked to perfection. Staff... More

Went to this pub on Saturday evening for a special occasion meal. I can't tell you how impressed I was with the entire evening. The staff were friendly and welcoming and a little cheeky which we all thought was great. Wonderful selection of real ales. Finally the food was excellent. The pies were a real hit and it all was... 'The Low' is simply one of England's great village pubs, oozing with character inside and out. The front parlour, with its low ceiling and rare horseshoe high back settle facing the small fire place, is worthy of 'The Hobbit'. Further in, two other charming small rooms lead to the open servery where the full range of Adnam's beers is dispensed,... More

I would never have found this one, as there is no reaason to be passing through laxfield unless directed there. We had by friends that used to live there. This is a small village pub, but with a great big heart. It doesn't have a bar, but better has a tap room with keg upon keg of real ale. The... More

We spent a few days staying in the stables at the Low House - the rooms are clean, comfortable and attractive, nothing was too much trouble for Bob, the Landlord par excellence; the food at the pub was wonderful - locally produced food with village allotment holders bringing their produce to the kitchen - Linda's Full English Breakfast is highly... We stayed overnight in the Stables, nominally self-catering but we did it on a bed and breakfast basis. Can't fault it - clean, comfortable and spacious. But it's the pub itself that really makes this place. It is as genuine a 'proper' pub as you'll see anywhere in the country. The food is good too - we had the belly... More

We stayed in the self catering accommodation at The Low House. Very clean room with spacious bathroom and kitchen facilities. Not that needed the kitchen - the food at The Low House was excellent. I had the Steak and Ale Pie with vegetables followed by sticky toffee pudding for evening meal and a full English breakfast the following morning.. The... More

My wife and I always enjoy a visit to this unusual pub. There is no bar as such and you select your beer from the barrels in the tap room.I selected the Adnam's beer brewed locally in Southwold ,this is a very enjoyable drink. The atmosphere was warm and friendly and the food was excellent.Try their excellent pies. The service was quick,... More
