the staff were extremly helpful check in and out simple.,Dinner was good the menu had much on offer the wine was reasonable in price good on quality and the restaurant was full. The room was clean and comfortable with exposed beams and original features with inventive and quirky decor a charming place we will return.

Back in France after 18 months, it was hard to recognise Le Puits Dore. All the scaffolding is gone, and I believe the new rooms are great. I was taken for a romantic birthday dinner, and the 23 Euros meal was just perfect. Congratulations to Olivier and his charming romantic staff

In Richelieu you don't have a lot of choices, especially in early March. So we booked into Le Puits Doré thinking we would have a room and dinner. We were offered our choice of two rooms, the more recently renovated room was extremely spacious but had low beams so we took the smaller room which was fine. Come early morning... More

My husband & I stayed here in 2011, we stayed in a double room on the top floor I believe we had maybe the loft room. The hotel was traditional which was lovely and very nice interior, it's in the centre of the village so of course perfect location. We didn't get the breakfast which is extra as we were... More

We have known and stayed at Le Puits Dore many times in the past six years. I find it hard to recognise it from the comments made by your British correspondents. It is clear many do not understand what to expect from a classic French Hotel. Reading most of the French comments it is clear they do. Olivier Blanc and... More

3 of us went for a quickish lunch...we got what we went for...the grilled goats cheese was good...the braised pigs cheek as part of my 13 Euro set menu was also in fact very good...the veal was a little tough (23 euro menu)...the mange tout were boiled to death... If you find something of interest, the 13 euro set menu... More

Unbelievably putrid and shocking service. The hotel room was as expected for a basic logis 2 star, no complaints about the cleanliness of the room or the fact you couldn't swing a mouse, never mind a cat about the room, akin to that and actually possibly featured in the film Being John Malcovich or possibly even the Cabinet of Doctor... We stayed at this hotel on our way to Moustey and the horrendous Hotel Le Domaine! The hotel is in an old building and so there are compromises but the town is quiet and the car was quite safe parked in the square outside the hotel. In fact, the town was so quiet we wondered where all the people had... More

Ok ish hotel in a nice location. However the food in the restaurant was very disappointing. We went for the more expencive menu at 36 Euros as we were treating ourselves. The main course was very bland and had no taste. We were so disappointed that we did not eat it and complained. Nothing happened even though the waiter said... More

Olivier has done a fabulous job with his outdoor patio dining in the square of the "ideal Cite" built by Cardinal Richelieu. Cousin Al had a few problems getting up the stairs to the first refurbed rooms 2 years ago, but this year things are really on the move. Even the workmen gutting the 400 year old wing next to...
