It was such a pleasure staying at mutiara taman negara. Wonderful staff in a superb location. Amazing facilities in a jungle! We had a lovely adjoining chalet so the children had their own room. The chalets have beautiful cane walls and excellent air conditioning. We loved having no tv and immediate access to the jungle. The food is very good... More

We stayed in the family chalet with our two young boys. The chalet was comfortable and clean. We had no issues with mosquitos. It was the perfect location from which to explore the park. We were able to take a few short walks that started from right outside our chalet. We also took a short boat ride (10-15 minutes) to... More

We booked directly through the resort website for 4-night stay in March in a chalet. We also booked a full-board package as there are not many other places to eat apart from a few floating restaurants on the other side of the river. On arrival after a very long (and fairly dire) transfer from Kuala Besut we were allocated chalet... More

I couldnt find a review on the dorm before my trip, so I thought it would be nice to put one here! We were 8 buddies taking the entire 8-people sharing AC dorm in Mutiara. It has a fan and an AC unit (that took a while to cool the room). There are 4 bunk beds (as shown in their... More

The Mutiara resort has a wonderful setting - just getting there by crossing the river and mounting the stairs gives you a feeling of leaving the world behind. For a visit to the jungle, I felt that the chalets were ok - I read some criticisms and yes, they are dark and perhaps a little dated, but it added to... More

We have just enjoyed a three day package at the Resort. The setting is amazing - chalets close to the river but separated by a belt of jungle foliage, the home for birds and macaques which make an occasional appearance. My husband has a knee problem and couldn't participate in the activities especially the boat trips as you sit on... More

My husband and I spent only 3 days here and it was worth the trip. The jungle trekking, night walk, visit to orang asli settlement, sampan ride up the river, and witnessing nature's gift to mankind was an eye opener for us. We would like to recommend all to visit and stay for a longer period as each day, you... More

I want to give this place a 4/5 staff review, i really do. The location is great, it's the only hotel that is actually in the Taman Negara national park, just over the river. Pro's... This is the only high standard lodging option inside the park. The chalet was spacious and clean with recently renovated bathroom. There were no phone, TV and wifi in the room which was actually fine. I mean when you decided to come to Taman Negara you have decided to take a break from modern world. If you cannot live with... It is the only lodging actually inside the park, while the rest are on the other side of the river. It is possibly the only one properly run as a resort. The food is fantastic, considering that you are in the jungle and very reasonably priced. We love the chalet type rooms and the animals that seems to live within... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Mutiara Taman Negara Resort, PahangDiscover the wonders of an ancient forest at Mutiara Taman Negara. Pitch tent or check-into this forest reserve and bask in the natural surroundings of the Taman Negara park. Mutiara Taman Negara, an eco-tourism Resort that offers a variety of accommodation types promises guests this unique experience with basic amenities and sufficient modern comforts. A virgin jungle expanse covering 4,343 square kilometres, Taman Negara was established in 1939 and is the largest park in peninsular Malaysia reputed to be The Best Kept Tropical Rainforest, thanks to its protected status. With minimal damage to this special ecosystem, Mutiara Taman Negara is dimly lit to avoid scaring off wildlife and conserves energy. Everything used is biodegradable and all the wooden chalet interiors are made of natural produce. Guests at Mutiara Taman Negara will wake to the drone of cicadas, the chirping of bird species new to them and a myriad of other unfamiliar sounds that form a consistent cacophony unique to rainforests. You will begin their adventure at your door step or veranda which makes a perfect perch especially for nocturnal sightings. Sighting wildlife outside the chalet is a norm and the fruit season attracts the most number of wildlife, from the mischievous long tailed macaques, the beautiful chestnut-breasted malkoha and the thorny porcupine to the gentle slow loris. The ancient life forms that blanket Taman Negara are impressive and during each visit, Mutiara Taman Negara gives its visitors the opportunity to glimpse at the flora and fauna species estimated at 10,000 plants, 150,000 insects, 25,000 invertebrates, 675 birds, 270 reptiles, 250 freshwater fish and 200 mammals. Some of the flora and fauna found in Taman Negara are rare or indigenous to this country. If you are not travelling with a group, you can plan your trip to Mutiara Taman Negara well before you arrive or enlist the help of guides at the Park Centre. Things to do at Mutiara Taman Negara include river cruises, guided walks, bird watching, fishing, swimming by waterfalls and night safaris. The world’s longest suspended canopy walk is the most popular activity in this rainforest and you have to be prepared to queue for a while. Secured 40 metres above the forest floor, visitors have a good vantage point from here and if lucky, you can sight some curious animals. The only people who are allowed to hunt and forage are its original inhabitants, the Orang Asli people who still live a nomadic lifestyle. They farm, fish and hunt in the park and nowadays play host to curious visitors armed with flashy cameras. The women may shy away but the men folk can put on a show with some advance notice. Travelling to Mutiara Taman Negara, guests can either do the four hour scenic drive down or board a coach from a designated location in Kuala Lumpur for a 3 hour drive down followed by a 3 hour boat trip down river ... more   less
