This is the ABSOLUTE FIRST ADVENTURE you should plan for your Nicaraguan trip!!! We spent 4 nights, with our 11yr old daughter at Sablos lodge, in an authentic bamboo treehouse(with a full bathroom). We slept under bugnets and LOVED EVERY minute of our time there. We had many fantastic experiences in Nica, but Sabalos Lodge was definitely the highlight of... More

If you like birds and flowers and ROARING monkeys then this is IT! The island across the way just TEEMED with birds - the shows at daybreak and dusk were especially thrilling. Howler monkeys hang out in trees above the place, and yes they're crazy loud (we thought that was exciting). My 9-year-old son and I loved the night-time glimpses... More

When going to Castillo we say some people going off the boat at Sabalos Lodge and we decided immediately we wanted to stop for the night on the way back. We stayed and the cheapest cabin and the room was far from special, but the location directly on the river in the middle of nothing and the private terrace are.... More

We arrived shortly before sundown on our first night, and my five-you old found it a little intense at first. The rooms are totally open, which means anything that flies- including bats- come right on in. The birds and monkeys are crazy loud at sunrise and sunset. There is a family of baby cayman and their mama who keep their... More

The owner was a terrible person!! He treated my family and I like garbage. The service was bad and the bed sheets were extremely dirty. The food is over priced while you can go to town and get food much cheaper. The owner is a. Money hungry person that doesn't care for his clients.mmy family and I were extremly excited... More

If you want to enjoy Rio San Juan region, this is a great place to go. Hosts Jaro and Raphael make you feel welcome and your visit rewarding. With the 2-story jungle lodges, you have a bird's eye view of the howler monkeys and tropical birds that are so easy to find here. You watch the hairy primates while they... More

If you are planning to cisit Rio San Juan, don't look further for accommodation: this is IT. Spend there 3 nights and planned a lot, but at the end of the trip we did really nothing but just to chill out in the Lodge. Jaro, the manager, is a character; he really makes you feel you are at home, and... More

My wife and I stayed five nights here in January 2012. We stayed in the "Jane" cabin, which was wonderful. If you can, choose Tarzan, Jane, Jaguar or Chita, all of which are elevated and extremely close to the river. You have to be ready for the rigors of a true eco-lodge -- no air conditioning, no hot-water showers, mosquito... More
