There is a lot more to this place than just its famous Dragon tree of indeterminate age. The centre of the town is full of wonderful picturesque streets and equally traditional houses. The tree lined square is a haven of peace and tranquillity. Even the more modern part exudes character and features lots of lovely bars and restaurants. Well worth the trip. You could happily spend several hours here

Icod situated between Puerto de la cruz and Garachico is primarily famous for the Dragon Tree, thought to be over 800 years old. It is situated in the pretty Plaza San Marcos .In addition to the tree there is the San Marcos Church and pretty adjacent plaza has some nice cafe's plus a small sacred art museum Another attraction is a butterfly house where butterflies roam free. If you are holidaying in Puerto de la cruz and want a change this is well worth a visit .You can catch local bus 363 from the bus station
