This was our second stay at the Abel Tasman Guest House. We were first there in 2008. The owner has over has built several houses with apartments on his property over the years which he rents out on a daily basis. A few of them are entire small houses. Each has it's own charm and is individually different, each with... More

We spent 7 nights in the Tui apartment in the Abel Tasman Guesthouse in Marahau. We had a wonderful time in this spacious accommodation with a lovely view over the trees to the Tasman Sea. This place is out of the ordinary and reflects the personality of Heinrich who is well worth knowing and has been helpful in every way.... More

I can see this place would easily polarise people: some will enjoy, others will hate. When we arrived I wasn't sure what category I was in, but over the four nights we spent there I softened and found myself liking it - quirks and all. We stayed in the Bellbird Room. Was hard to know what to expect from the... More

We had a great night at this place but I can understand both the good and bad reviews. The place is rustic, out of the way, and very idiosyncratic. The owner struck us as eccentric and the place bore that out. Everything from the furnishings to the guest information is a little odd. But the room - I was unsure... More

We arrived late at night after a long drive from Nelson. The place was dark, in the woods and gave you a strange feeling in the dark. The room was very big, an appartment actualy, tin a wood-house, with balcony and super bathroom. On waking up it was a surprise. The balcony had a perfect view to Abel Tasman national... More

An instant after our arrival, my wife and I wanted to get the heck out of there. Not only was the blurred pictures on their website completely a farce (seemed like a scene out of Texas Chainsaw Massacre), I was mislead by the owner in our email correspondence before we arrived. I was promised a view of Abel Tasman Bay... More

As this accommodation is not much advertised on NZ websites we were not aware there is such a gem hidden in Marahau. While searching for the place we booked for the night we got lost and found this absolutely lovely accommodation for the same value but better facilities. Actually we loved it so much that we returned and stayed there... More

Please, visit Kaiteriteri, the Abel Tasman Park, Motueka....it is a fantastic place. Please DO NOT stay at this "guesthouse". The place looks like an old scout camp that have been abandoned for the last 30 years. Don't be deceived by the blurry pictures on the website (taken from 2km distance). There are Compost bins everywhere, what explains why there are... More

Just coming back from a holiday at the Abel Tasman Guesthouse and highly recommending this place to anyone planning to explore the Abel Tasman area. We had a great time thanks to the great location close to the park entrance, beach, shop & restaurants. The Takahe Studio we stayed in was such a romantic retreat for a couple and we... More

We booked online, and the website has good photos. Do not be deceived though, the B&B is barely so. Our "self contained room" was in the basement of their house. The owner was lazy and not very hospitable; after a 1.5 km walk up a side road, we were not offered so much as a glass of water upon arrival!... More
