We have just returned from having our wedding at the Windlestraw Lodge and we could not of asked for a more perfect day! Our ceremony was done at Old Gala House which was a short drive away but when our guests arrived they were well looked after and allow to relax in their rooms while they waited on us arriving.... What a fab location, set on a hillside over looking the Tweed valley. The hosts, Alan and Julie could not have been more welcoming, apart from the 2 lovely dogs! We found "Windlestraw" via the internet and Sawdays and we were not disappointed. The gardens, quietness and views are superb and Alan's cooking is absolutely first rate. No complaints there,... We stayed for two nights at Windlestraw and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The house is very beautiful, well maintained and very homely and inviting. We received a very warm welcome from Alan on our arrival and shown to our room. The food is to die for. Every course is exceptional and with a nice interlude inbetween. You are not rushed... More

We got married at Windlestraw Lodge last year and we came back this year to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. What a place.. the setting is to die for and we were welcomed by Alan & Julie and were looked after to the highest degree. The hotel is just as we remembered as was the service. But wow, the food... Just back from a one night stay at Windlestraw Lodge. We had a relaxing time and enjoyed the quiet environment. Our dog was made very welcome and we were given tea/coffee and biscuits in the lounge on arrival. Our room was pleasant and although the bathroom was dated it was clean. Our only complaint at this stage was that we had... More

It was thoughtful of you to write to Tripadvisor after your stay at Windlestraw (last minute, 25% discounted rate) I am so sorry that your stay was spoiled by the poor television reception and for this we apologise unreservedly. Unfortunately the local transmitter is outwith our control. It was spoiled by a clean, fresh smelling bedroom? A garden which shows... More

Returned again to the Windlestraw as the hosts make it so welcoming and comfortable. A lovely place to stay, comfortable rooms and the food was just delicious. Views out over the hills, where there is some great walking/cycling country and plenty of places to visit.

We spent one night here as a break on a journey - and what a wonderful choice it was! Despite being the only residents for the night we were there, we were made to feel very welcome by the owner, Alan Reid. The location of the hotel is wonderful, with views of the Tweed valley. The standard of the bedroom... More

We stopped at Windlestraw Lodge on our way to meet friends in Edinburgh in mid October. We specifically chose Windlestraw Lodge because of the great reviews of the food - so nice to stay somewhere and be able to get a great meal and not have to worry about driving. The rooms were lovely and the food was great, both... More

From the moment we arrived at Windlestraw Lodge to meet up with friends on 2 November 2012 we knew we were in good hands. My wife and I stayed here on the evening of the 20/10/12 for our anniversary with the aim of getting away from the hustle and bustle of modern life – what a great decision, as this place is fantastic.
