Year after year after year, this place never fails to please me. 4 big men, in a well equipped housekeeping cottage. It was comfortable, private, spacious with the screened in room, cable TV, great docking, hydro for charging your boat, beautiful location, and gorgeous well-kept grounds... and then there's Gail. A kinder, more pleasant person, you'll never find. Did i mention affordable?

To make a long story short. I was most fortunate to spend my summer holidays on Balsam Lake and that was 50 years ago and did remember the Shorelea Cottages as a kid. Now after driving across Canada and back to BC, we decided to stay there for a couple of nights. So glad we did. Gail was a great host and provided us with the needed bedding and so forth. We where upgraded to a great cottage and could not ask for more. Views are stunning from the property. A kid across from us caught a Large Mouth Bass right off of the dock. His first fish and will remember that for ever. All in all was great and would recommend this to all.

I went to Shorelea Cottages for the May long weekend and I brought my daughter for a girls weekend. The owners are quite friendly and accommodating. The property is very well kept with nice green grass. The cottages are more rustic than modern but that is the demographic that the area is targeting. They are looking for people that want to rough it a little. The cabin's come equipt with all the dishes, BBQ, and all you really need to bring is your clothing & food. The only thing I really had concern about is that they don't offer A/C in their cabins or boat house and it could get really hot on warmer days. Shorelea is located right on the waterfront and they offer boat slips for docking and the boat launch is just around the corner at the marina. They offer a community fire, instead of each cabin having its own private fire pit. ( that was a small issue for us. We like to have our own space) The price is great. Very comparable to other locations in the area. Fenelon Falls is about a 10 minute drive from this location, and they have a trading post/general store about 5 mins away incase you need to pick up things or buy firewood.…

We stayed there for the Canada labor day weekend. It was overall good fun but the main building rooms were very small and didn't have any space in the rooms to move. Moat important there were no fans or air conditioning. It was very very hot in the evenings and no wind blowing. Even after opening the windows there was no air. It was very disappointing to see such a nice cottage without any fan or air conditioning. If you feel hot and are used to fan or air conditioning this is not the place to go in summers. They should do some upgrades and it will be good.

Over a fourteen year period my friends and I have returned to Shorelea for a vacation. Gail and Grant, the owners, are welcoming and personable. The cabins and trailer are clean and contain all the cutlery and necessities one might require. There is no need to bring pots, pans and glasses. The accommodations are very clean and the beach and seating areas overlooking Balsam Lake are beautiful. The sunsets are stunning. I would highly recommend this accommodation. I think returning fourteen years speaks for itself. Mary, Toronto
