Amazing stay at The Moose with great hosts. Delicious breakfasts , Beautiful area to explore. Hot tub welcoming after a day sightseeing. Easy to visit Algonquin Park.....where we saw the moose. Thoroughly recommend this place for an experience of Canadian wilderness.

Spent two nights in at The Moose and it was perfect! We stayed in the Birch Suite and it was well worth it, a completely private suite will all the amenities of a 5 star hotel. Breakfast was fantastic which we were able to enjoy on the deck outside both mornings. Dorset is within walking distance 2 minutes to main strip which while small very quaint and has anything you will need! We parked the car on Friday and didn't have to drive anywhere all weekend. Simply a perfect spot to relax and get away from work and the city! Would have loved to have been able to do the SS Bigwin boat cruise which leaves from the dock right in Dorset but Covid nixed those plans. Maybe next year! Thanks to Deb & Cal for their hospitality.

My husband and i were celebrating a special occasion and booked The Moose B&B for 3 nights. What a beautiful place to celebrate our anniversary! The property is so lovely and spacious with a dock overlooking the Lake of Bays, a huge patio to enjoy a BBQ dinner after a long hike and a soak in the hot tub was a bonus! The B&B is perfectly located in the town of Dorset, cozy, welcoming and has some of the BEST French Toast I’ve ever had! Loved being greeted by Rolo the dog every morning! The Birch suite is beautifully decorated, spacious, warm, inviting and the bed/pillows were incredibly comfortable! Thanks Debi and Cal for making our weekend so special!

Beautiful gem of a B&B, very quaint, clean, modernized inside Victorian home. Like staying at a 5 star hotel, with the personal touch and feel of a beautiful private home. The hosts are amazing, treat you like family, not a guest.. Breakfast is amazing, lots of choices and fresh delicious food from the local area. the Bed was so comfortable, had an amazing sleep. I recommend highly.

What a wonderful gem in Dorset! We were looking for a 1 night B&B around Algonquin while on our vacation and on our way to Quebec City. I can’t express how much we recommend this place, from the moment we arrived and were greeted by Cal to the moment we left and hugged by Debbie! We stayed at the Sage room. It is a cute small room, with its own private bathroom. The bed was super comfy and room was great for the 2 of us, clean and bright. I felt super pampered with all the toiletries, the monogrammed towels and bathrobes. Washroom had everything we needed and again, sparkling clean! We loved having all information about the place and area at our fingertips in the booklet they had in the room. My husband enjoyed having the coffee nook just outside the bedroom as he is a coffeeholic! Not only coffee, but they also had wine! It was great having it which meant he can use the Keurig machine whenever he wanted to have coffee. I thought that was very thoughtful as well as the booklet in the room itself. Everything about the room and bathroom was superb. Before booking, I was concerned with being in a house with a dog but Debbie assured me that Rolo, the dog, does not go to the room. I read all the reviews and felt I had to book this place so I crossed my fingers and booked. So glad I did. Debbie and Calvin actually went the extra mile and put a divider from the kitchen to the dining room as it has a secondary outside access and stairs to the room. So, it was PERFECT. Rolo stayed in a different part of the house and they made sure we had easy access in and out away from Rolo. Honestly, everything was so clean and fresh that I was super comfortable in the room and dining area. I had no problem at all breathing although unfortunately, I am normally am super allergic to dogs. Rolo is actually very polite and quiet and sooo cute. Got to see him from far! Lucky are those who can pet him! I did not see the rest of the house although the area I saw was immaculate, tastefully decorated and clean. The outside was very well manicured. The paths are all well lit at night and they have thoughtful touches everywhere. Various outside areas to enjoy. We loved sitting by the dock at night and enjoyed a coffee there. We also saw the screened gazebo. So enjoyable, we will sit there next time. Loved walking around the property which is actually very large and private. Now, the cherry on top is actually the breakfast. As we had a long day ahead of us, we ordered a huge breakfast and so happy we did. They graciously prepared it for us, at the perfect time we selected. The breakfast service was ROYAL. Everything was unbelievable, from presentation, to the tableware, to the homemade jams, everything! The food was DELICIOUS !! Deb is a great cook. The eggs were done to perfection and that’s not an easy thing to do when you have so many things on the go. The timing was perfect. I really felt so well pampered. The breakfast by itself is the reason to come and stay there and we will definitely stay there again when in the area. That breakfast made our day, helped us travel longer hours to our next destination! I don’t know how to thank them for their hospitality but they were amazing hosts and you should not hesitate to stay there at all. I know we will absolutely stay there again! Monique

My wife and I stayed at The Moose July 25 -26, 2019. It was a last minute booking just to get away for a night and relax. We live 2 hours north of Dorset. The room we stayed in was called the Lily. On arrival we were greeted by Debi and shown to our room. It was clean and ready for us. The bed was very comfortable and the room had a spacious bathroom with complimentary toiletries. The house in general had a lovely early 1900's character with the modern parts of the home nicely integrated. In a short time we felt very comfortable getting our own tea and wandering in and out of the home at our leisure. Great dining was just steps away at the Trading Bay Dining Company. It's a busy place so be prepared to wait a bit for lunch/dinner depending on the season. We were there to relax and not rush in and out so we didn't mind the wait. The food was well worth it and the wait staff was excellent. There are other eating places around but we chose to stay close. There are other attractions to spend some time at nearby; Robinson's General Store, the local museum and a bakery are a few spots. There's a hike up ( and I mean up) to the Dorset lookout tower one can take where the view is stunning. Later in the day we met Debi's husband Calvin who also took time to chat and make us feel welcome. We had put in our breakfast request and retired for a very comfortable sleep. In the morning we had a breakfast prepared for us that was to die for and then took our morning tea to the deck and to before heading home. The other couple at the Moose was from Ireland and had spent almost a week there. We also have to mention lovable little "Mr Rollo" the family dog who made us chuckle! We will definitely head back there at some point, hopefully with our good friends next time. We'll bring some food and make use of the outdoor kitchen and book a cruise on the historic "Bigwin" - a beautifully restored 1900's passenger boat. We returned home refreshed after our impromptu mini vacation. Thank you Debi and Calvin!

Everything about The Moose was outstanding: fabulous breakfast menu, very comfortable bedroom and spacious bathroom, beautiful gardens and dock. The Moose is just steps away from several shops in the village of Dorset which is so picturesque. Would love to spend an entire summer at this great spot!

Where to begin? Calvin and Deb (owners) are just truly wonderful hosts who got above and beyond to ensure your staying is memorable . The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and even Rolo the dog is a treat to be around. The room was impeccable . The breakfast.... ahhh that breakfast. I have no doubt people return just for the breakfast. You'll have only the most positive of experiences if you stay at the Moose. Enjoy and your welcome!
