Enjoyed our two night stay in this comfortable, friendly hotel. Well appointed room, good food and efficient service - we felt at home and were sorry to leave. Hope to return with our grandchildren in the not too distant future. The Tulbagh hotel is conveniently situated. Lovely to be able to stroll about the town, visiting museums and enjoying the... More

Dear Both Thank you for the kind review. I'm sorry we didn't have a ground floor room available for you. I do appreciate that the current staircase is rather steep, but at last, we are replacing the staircase with a new one-wider and less steep with more original character. Local carpenter Peter McCormick has been busy for weeks in his... More

We had a group of 18 Norwegians in February, all loved their stay at the hotel. Great service, friendly & helpful hosts, good food. Lovely surrounding area for cycling. Well done, will be back!! Liz Szabo/Chris Murray

Dear Liz and Chris Thank you for the generous review, and for including Tulbagh and the hotel in your itinerary. Tulbagh is becoming increasingly popular with cyclists, as we are included in the annual Cape Epic mountain bike race, and there are routes that are permanently open for visitors. Equally the valley floor provides easy cycling between vineyards through gorgeous... More

My mom and I had the privilege of staying at the hotel for three nights. Soon after arriving, we made our way to the pool area and enjoyed a peaceful hour listening to a hovering turtle dove, whilst slowly sipping gin and tonic. As we chatted snacks arrived, and in the glow of a setting sun, we felt alive at... More

Dear Sofia What a pleasure to meet you and your mother, and have the chance to show you a few of the highlights of the valley. It is one of the joys of owning the hotel, to be able on occasion to meet new people and spend some time with them. I hope you will return to Tulbagh very soon.... More

The Tulbagh Hotel has everything I look for when going away: like more than one lounge (both of which have fireplaces) and multiple eating areas. Our room was upstairs, which opened onto a wooden terrace with a view of the mountain and tree tops (where we could just relax on comfortable chairs). The well-manicured pool area was another place where... More

Dear Vanda We were so grateful that you chose to spend 3 nights with us, including the first few hours of your birthday, which at least gave us the opportunity to raise a glass and wish you 'many happy returns'. I'm so pleased that you had a fun packed stay, including horse riding through the vineyards, zip sliding and champagne... More

We had the pleasure of spending the past weekend at the Tulbagh Hotel. The room was lovely and the service fantastic. All staff are very welcoming and friendly. We rented mountain bikes from the hotel to do some exploring of the neighboring farms - what a treat. A relaxed dinner and some local wine on the terrace was the perfect... More

What a pleasant surprise it was arriving at the Tulbagh Hotel. The hotel is anything but a small town main street hotel. The decor is country but contemporary due to a recent refurbish but I also believe the owners wanted that. We were greeted by a very friendly Heidi at reception and shown to a very spacious room. We were... More

Hi Many thanks for leaving the kind review. We have 3 spacious rooms which have sofa beds as well as the main king size bed, which works well for families with young children. I travel a lot myself, and enjoy wine. Nothing is more frustrating than having to pay a hugely inflated price to try some local wines with dinner.... More

My husband and I stayed at the hotel at the start of the Easter weekend to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary and what a great choice! We were upgraded to a luxury room, which was stylishly decorated and spotless; the toiletries were absolutely lovely and the king-sized bed afforded us the most comfortable night's sleep we had had in ages... I stayed overnight at this hotel earlier in the year as part of a work group. I really enjoyed the stay and so when we had to come back I recommended we stay there. I was put in what they termed a "luxury" room. I was shown to my room by the very pleasant lady at the front desk. I... More

Dear Tristan I was very disappointed to read your review. I am very grateful that you decided to return to the hotel. The rooms in question have been renovated very recently. I will investigate whether additional sound insulation is required. The hotel will be closed for a final stage of renovation in May, and any remedial work required will be... More

The Tulbagh Hotel competes with heavy weight competitors with many more stars. We stayed at the lovely country hotel for one night. The staff were tremendously helpful and engaging.
