We stayed here for one night including breakfast for two at 84 pounds. The room we had was fairly small but adequate. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was clean. The reception for the TV was poor. THe breakfast was well cooked and plentiful. Staff were pleasant. All in all we would stay here again when visiting Whitby.... More

Easy to find on the main road arriving for a two night stay. Warm welcome in a spacious reception with a wood burning stove and impressive staircase. Escorted to the room and assisted with bags. Room was in the attic so lacked the stone mullioned windows and was spacious but with an unusual internal arrangement. The bed was clean and... More

stayed in ruswarp after doing the saltburn to whitby 'cleveland way' walk - took a short train journey from whitby to ruswarp (runs 4 times a day) and after having a couple of drinks and an excellent meal at the local 'bridge inn' checked in about 10.30 pm - room was exactly what we needed - the building and it's... What a lovely romantic building in a cosy village. Requested the four poster bedroom right up on the top floor which we got, and we were pleased with the size of the room and the impressive bed. But the bedding was old and shabby looking. That bed was screaming out for a better look. It did look like it was... More

A beautiful 17th Century building with many original features. Decorated internally with armor, pikes and tapestry you immediately affected by the historical grandure of the mansion while simultaneously warmed by the fireplace and welcomed with Whitby hospitality. The rooms appear to have original features in addition to all the comforts you might expect from a contempary hotel. The Full English... More

My husband and I stayed at this hotel over twenty years ago. Now that the youngest has gone to university, we thought we'd revisit the hotel we stayed in when we were love's young dream. The hotel's appearance has improved a lot in the intervening years. The interior decor has also improved. It used to be overfilled with cheap looking... More

Me and the Lady Wife stayed for a night in September, we found the chap who booked us in to be very polite and very funny narrating a tale of some dodgy fella's trying to sell him an even dodgier guitar in our home town,The Hall itself was magnificent with the sweeping staircase and grand facade,we were made to feel... What is going on in this place? It was built in 1603 and looks amazing, is in a lovely village and no distance from busy Whitby, so why is it so bad? The shuffling retainer who greeted us gave the impression that we were an interruption. The room was dreadful: about the size of a snooker table, including the bathroom,... More
