Terra Viva is a lovely spot, near the mountain town of Santa Elena and the two fabulous wildlife reserves of Monteverde and Santa Elena. We have stayed here twice! It's perfect for kids plenty of room to run around, hike up through the pastures to forested land, and to experience life on a dairy farm. Gaudy, owns and runs the... More

My family loved Terra Viva so much that we came back 2 winters in a row. Both times we stayed in the cabin by the farm. We all loved the farm setting: not necessarily what most people think of for Costa Rica but it really added diversity to the rest of the trip which was geared to exploring rain forest... More

This hotel is no-frills, but it is beautiful, run by hospitable and helpful organic farmers, and offers a different experience. We loved waking up to the sounds and smells of a working farm - this is principally a dairy farm, though they also have ducks and pigs. We took a fantastic 2 hour horse back ride around their lovely property... More

Having read some of the reviews on trip advisor I was thoroughly disappointed by our stay at Terra Viva. We stayed in the river cabin which was a little way from the main lodge. It is an amazing setting, absolutely beautiful but the cabin was cold and damp and the kitchen area and bathroom were dirty. The whole place was... More

We stayed in one of the cabins on the property away from the main lodge. This was perfect since we had a sense of being in the woods by ourselves. Our kids (6 & 8) were able to run all over the property and never ran out of things to explore. We rented horses one day and this gave us... More

We spent 3 days at Terra Viva. We loved every minute of it. Terra Viva is a farm that makes a combination with ecotourism. The children enjoyed feeding the calves and playing with the dogs. I enjoyed the birds in the little patch of forest right in front of our little house. We had a little house that was simple... More

There are many things travelers look for in accommodations. Fuenca Terra Viva provides the cleanliness and comfort without their lodgings having a sterile or overly manicured feel. We stayed in a cottage a couple minutes from the main residence, and perfect would only begin to describe our time there. For city dwellers, the temptation is to romanticize an experience with... We stayed at Terra Viva with our 2 years old son and it was just perfect for us! Logan loved the cows and others animals around the farm! Breakfast is big and taken in the communal room so you can meet the others guests. I wish we would have stayed longer!! Rooms are simple but clean and in the morning... More

I LOVED Terra Viva!!!!!! The food was wonderful and Gaude (the owner) was very kind to us. We got to put on rain boots and go see the baby cows. Gaude also recommends very good resturaunts and things to do. There was many animals on the farm such as cows-babies and full grown, one pig, and some baby chickens :)... More

This place is definitely quiet, about 10 min. away by car from Santa Elena downtown, which is not a problem if you have a car. The accommodations are not the best but they are comfortable and according to the whole idea of an "hotel-farm". The breakfast was great and our hosts were super nice. We also really enjoyed the dinner... More
