We arrived late (drove from Port aux Basque sightseeing along the way) and kept missing the sign but as soon as we saw the welcoming house and lawn furniture and flowers, we knew that this stay would be special. We weren't disappointed. Doreen advised us to go to By the Sea at King's Point for supper YUMMY. Then we settled into our room with a beautiful quilt. Too tired for the wi fi or TV. The hot full breakfast was excellent. Then we were introduced to the ugly sticks and spoons and even sang. A great experience. Just sorry that we had planned only one night on our way to Twillingate and Fogo Island. Stay longer if you can. There are many things to do that we didn't take advantage of especially learning to cook a Jiggs Dinner. Next time will be different.

You are welcomed into Doreen's home and made to feel like family. She and Brian are special people and Doreen will show you what Newfoundland is all about. Be prepared to join in a morning sing song even if you don't know the words and be prepared to meet the resident ugly sticks. For us what was planned as a quick stop over on our way to Twillingate became a highlight of our whole trip. Thanks Doreen for that special touch.

Your in Doreen’s house and she is awesome! Very welcoming and fantastic cook, we had blueberry pancakes that were perfect. It’s breakfast and a SHOW, Doreen knows how to capture your attention, introduced us to Cricket and Gorge and sings and you can’t help but join in. She’s also a comedian ! The Rooms were en-suite super clean included a tv and internet.

Doreen is a lovely host and very helpful to her guests. Breakfast was good and the room was just right. Comfortable and warm. We had a lot of fun after eating as Doreen put on a small show of Newfoundland music, singing, playing spoons and her ugly sticks. Amusing and unusual to be entertained this way. We liked that her home is off the beaten track but sad that no moose visited while we were there.

We enjoyed our stay in this rural setting just off Hwy 1. Our hostess, Doreen, made us feel very welcome. Comfortable common area to view rabbits and moose wandering through the yard. Thanks for the musical entertainment after Breakfast. Loved it!

We only had one night here, but Doreen was very helpful. Although our room was small for a bed and cot, we were made to feel very much at home. Doreen made outstanding pancakes for breakfast. She also sang a couple of local songs, which were really fun to listen to and watch as she played on local instruments, including an ugly stick. I really enjoyed both and was sorry that we had to be on the road early that day.

We had tea with Doreen when we arrived, the rooms were great with the most beautiful quilts. Our breakfast was delicious and Doreen entertained us after breakfast with music on the Ugly Stick and songs from Newfoundland. It was a fun and great place to stay.

We had a lovely stay at Doreen's B&B, our visit was quick but in that time we felt welcome and comfortable. Our breakfast was delicious and came with a cute bit of entertainment. We would definitely stay here again! Thank you Doreen!

The Indian River Brook Bed and Breakfast near Springdale was a great place for my husband and I during our tour of Newfoundland. The house is in a quiet rural area. There is a comfortable sitting room to relax in. Doreen Canning was a friendly and helpful hostess. The best thing about the visit was her entertainment after breakfast, with Newfoundland songs and stories and music on the ugly stick. Lots of fun. The house is not far from King's Point which offers lots of things do, including the By the Sea restaurant (excellent chowder) and a wonderful hike on the Alexander Murray trail which took us four hours to complete but the view at the top was well worth the climb.
