  "Writing this on a day between dives whilst sat by the pool after a very late breakfast. Temp is about 28c and the ever present staff are sweeping and tidying the pool area after the thunderstorm last night. The hummingbirds are flitting around and local wildlife are chirping, crowing and bleating ..."in the background. I can see bunches of bananas, mangoes, oranges and breadfruit on the nearby trees and the radio is playing Bob Marley! Sounds like heaven or a paid advertisement? Well except for the high humidity and blasted mozzies it could be! I will admit that the Toucan would not be your cup of Tea if you like big hotels with lots of staff but the individually designed simple rustic rooms and log cabins (all with air conditioning which does struggle to cope with the heat admittedly) and which sit nestled around either the pool or the quieter garden suit us fine. The bed is made every day, floors washed and cleaned and new towels if required and the staff are friendly and attentiv... " More >

  "Have recently returned from a two week break at the Tropikist, yes it is a little tired looking and in need of some tlc but it is clean(our room was done every day). The staff are amazing, friendly, welcoming,helpful(thanks reception for the bug plug)Anderson the manager takes the time to chat to yo..."u daily(just don't play poker with him).Merlin and junior mix up some great cocktails and a very good vodka and tonic.We were there on a bed and breakfast deal, the breakfast was a bit samey (but no different to other places I've been)but you were always welcomed and served by Ram,Dianne and Nikki plus Michael and Gary on some days.Overall we had a lovely stay not only in the hotel but in Tobago thanks mainly to all the lovely people we met and the things we got to see.Well worth a visit " More >
