  "We visited Kanha and stayed at the Chitvan Jungle lodge in the third week of May 2013. Peak summer time... but also the best time for sightings we were told. And rightly so! I won't lie, I was definitely sceptical of travelling in this heat with a 4-year old, unsure of the amenities available in ..."the jungle. We (grandparents, parents and a 4-year old) drove down in a private taxi from Nagpur to Chitvan, a 6-hour almost smooth drive. We left Nagpur around 730AM and two animated movies and one short nap later we were in Kanha! Didn't really feel the heat in the a/c car though it was 1:45PM by the time we got into Chitvan, but the moment the windows were rolled down a rush of hot air blasted into our faces! I stayed at some lovely lodges during my time in India, however without doubt the Kanha Jungle Lodge was definitely my favourite. It is in a gorgeous setting of Sal forest, with cottages perfectly spaced apart and a beautiful central dining area comprising a large Indian round house (golga), which makes a great gathering and entertaining area.
