The private hotspring bath inside Japanese Room A has a reclining bed inside. So, you can lie down while submerge in the warm hotspring water. It look out to the snow-capped Mt. Tanigawa, and you can also hear the running rapids below. My parents are more familiar staying in the Japanese room, sleeping on futons prepared at night by attendants. However, being from another generation, I prefer the Western style room with hotel beds. Personally it's more comfortable for me, and you can sleep on it during the day unlike the Japanese style room in which you have to wait for the attendant to prepare the fu... " More >

The journey is quite straightforward from Jomokogen train station, we asked for advice at the tourist office and a very kind man provided us with maps and the bus timetables. We actually got a taxi after the firs..."t bus because of a long wait between buses and that cost 3000Yen. As other reviews have said, Chojukan was well worth the journey though. The rooms are very comfortable, the onsen baths very clean and beautiful (especially the one with an outdoor bathing area), and the food was delicious and a real experience.
