The decor is a litte tired, but the pool is lovely and the rooms are clean and comfortable. Internet access is intermittent, but that's true of the whole island. What mak..."es it the only place to stay is the genuine helpfulness and friendliness of the staff - and the excellent food. The island is great for swimming, strolling on the beach collecting shells, fishing, snorkelling or turtle-watching, but at the end of a long day (especially arrival day because of the ferry trip) a fabulouly long, hot shower and a fantastic meal is just what you need. Sometimes the hotel is quiet, at other times it sppears booked, but, in fact, people simply can't get there. The only way is to travel by road from Izki or Adam (both on the main Saalah Muscat highway) and drive (via Sinaw) for 350 kilometres, via Mahout to Shannah, a tiny harbour at the end of some salt flats on...   "A great way to end a camping trip"
  "We stayed at the resort for the past two nights after camping for two nights on the Island. We had three adults and four children. To walk into a cool reception and receive a lovely refreshing face towel and glass of juice was a nice touch. We stayed in a Chalet and 1 room close by. The chalet i..."s large however the configuration is a large bedroom and then a large lounge that has one single roll away. We ordered an additional rollaway which worked well. The hotel is showing some wear and tear and I hope that the managing company will maintain the hotel as it needs repair and it would be a shame to see it slip into disrepair. Already there are things that can be done to help keep it up to standard. The food and beverage and housekeeping staff were fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble and they welcomed us like family each time we saw them. We had lunch two days in the Dhow Restaurant and while the food was very nice it was obvious that there was a different chef / cook on for... " More >
