  "St John's Lodge is a great place to stay and in a really good location, between Bowness and Windermere, so very convenient. The Lodge itself was lovely, the room we stayed in was a really nice size, with a gorgeous bathroom, I wanted to bring the bed home with me it was so comfortable. The breakfast..." was lovely, and there was a choice of 35 different options. The only downside was the parking. The front of the building has 3 parking spaces, but it seems they are always reserved for people, so you have to park down the road in what is a bus stop, but it was free, so no problems with parking charges.   "My wife and I stayed 4 days recently in our trip to the Lake District, and our choice of lodging made the trip very homely and comfortable. Jennifer and Stephen were very welcoming and warm, trying to accommodate any need that rose during the stay. More than 15 choices of breakfasts are offered, ..."and the taste is superb because Stephan is a professional cook as well. The pack lunch offered is large enough for two people, full with goodies including a huge sandwich, meat pie, cake, fruit, drinks and sweets. If you plan to hike nearby fells, it is a must to take with you. If you are looking for warm and homely accommodation to stay in Lake District, you should go definitely ahead.   "We spent a wonderful two nights at Wheatland Lodge which was booked as a surprise birthday treat. Richard and Yvonne were excellent hosts. For breakfast we had full English on day 1 which was superb. Day 2 I had the smoked salmon which is sourced from Scotland, it was delicious and not to be missed...." We were lucky enough to have fantastic weather and enjoyed spending a wonderful day on Lake Windermere stopping off at Wray Castle, Brockhole and Ambleside finishing with an Island tour. We dined at Roberto's in Bowness which was excellent value and Lazy Daisy's in Windermere which was well recommended by Yvonne. Local transport was excellent and we used the bus to visit Grasmere. We would certainly recommend Wheatlands Lodge if you are looking for excellent service in a convenient location. " More >
