Also worth having Howard as the toastmaster as he keeps everything running smoothly for you. It is a nice venue for a civil wedding as there is what i believe was a little chapel as part of the building and it was such a lovely place for my daughter to be married in. You then have your wedding breakfast in the great hall and I can honestly say its the best wedding breakfast I've ever had and that fact was replicated by all the guests. The hands on aspect of this 700 year old venue was most..." surprising, as most historic houses have rooms which have been cordoned off for the public to look but not touch. Not here though! Our boys were thrilled in the old kitchen, handling extremely old kitchen tools and utensils and trying to guess what various things would have been used for. Also there is the old school room where there are period clothes to try on, various 'priest holes' to discover and lots of things to touch and feel. I for one have never been in a place where you are actually allowed to touch exhibits so freely, so this alone makes Samlesbury Hall a rare and exciting find.
