  "Ok the Stair Arms is in need of a refurbishment but I think some of the comments about it having food either "bland or battered" is actually an over exaggeration. I have been there a few times now and I have never had a bland meal and never had anything battered! Was there on Saturday and the chill..."i salmon was gorgeous and the pate very tasty. My husband did have battered mushrooms but thoroughly enjoyed them. The meal prices are excellent at some main courses for a fiver and a special on one course, two course, three course. They are trying hard in the recession to get back customers. Personally I don't find the decor off putting and I think that I like it old fashioned and used. The owner is a lovely woman and honestly I love going there for the friendliness of the place and the honest to goodness decent food. " More >
