There is very old fashioned furniture throughout the hotel, including interesting old dressers and paintings and chests in the stairwells and halls. There are no private bathrooms and there is a need to update them... the shower screen in one didn't close properly. There is a hand basin in the bedroom but ours had a dripping tap.   "We have just returned from a week at the Hotel Nufenen and we very highly recommend it. The hotel is run by a husband and wife team with Mrs Imsand-Gyger taking care of the front of house stuff and Mr Imsand-Gyger the kitchen. Mrs Imsand-Gyger is warm, attentive and funny and shows a genuine concern..." to ensure that each person's holiday is as good as it possibly can be. Mr Imsand-Gyger produces amazing 4 or 5 course meals each evening which were a real treat. From beginning to end it's clear that they really care about doing everything with warmth and excellence and the hotel is a great place to relax and switch off. The village is small and quiet which we really enjoyed as it made for a peaceful holiday. Almost all the guests in the hotel were Swiss and many of them had been going there for many years which is a testament to how good the hotel is.   "I'd almost forgotten about this gem. Stayed there just before Christmas one year. What a beautiful setting. Comfortable beds and delicious food. Not cheap, but definitely worth it. Cross country ski trails just a few steps away. We're both vegetarian, but the chef had no problem conjuring delicious..." dinners for us each night. Breakfast buffet was expansive and excellent. The egg dunkers allowed me to do my own boiled egg the way I wanted it. The skiing was excellent too.
