With their fenced off VIP area on the beach! If you want to experience Crete, choose the Orion. Of course the beds are singles!!! They are in many hotels to allow flexibility. Uncomfortable? Rubbish. Food? Genuine Greek simple food. Staff? Great. I don't know the name of the lady who ran the restaurant and appeared to be there constantly - thank you!   "We visited in the middle of May and found the rooms adequate but the beds and pillows a little basic. The main plus as mentioned by others are the staff and the proximity to the beach. The food is also very good, but a gala night rather than 7 days buffet would have been nice. The pools are clean , ..."but we avoided the towel wars and can't be bothered competing for the limited loungers on holiday,the ones on the beach are better resourced and managed. One criticism of the reception is that they are a little limited in giving out maps and tour info. so we popped into the side street and booked all our outings with marie at the travel shop in the adjacent street. All in all we enjoyed the cleanliness and general efficiency and the location, with a nice walk into the old town was ideal.The evening entertainment was low key and we didn't endure it but the belly dancers were well attended one night!   "I agree with some of the previous views in that yes the food was just OK but I thought breakfast was quite adequate but they do need to cover the food from the flies for a four star property this should be standard. For me the one bedroom suites were of a very high standard and exceptionally cle..."an, the only things that were missing were no iron and board in rooms for me this should be standard for a four star property, no safe as listed in hotel information, no on site shop as listed in hotel information, no room service menus. The hotel is quite secluded so I would suggest hire a car or hire a driver to take you about. As previous reviewers have stated you can get a cab into Rethymnon, the old town is beautiful and here you will find some great places to eat and proper cocktail bars. There is also the village of Platanis where you will find loads of places and bars if you do not want to go into Rethymnon which is a 15 mins drive and 18Euros each way in taxi. The hotel bar do...
