  "My boyfriend and I stayed at the "Sleeping Giant Lodge" for 5 nights and 7 nights at the Almond Beach Resort in April. We were welcomed with local rum drinks while meeting our new friends. We were blown away when we were upgraded to the 2 bed 2 bath "River House." It was so beautiful and away from..." the lodge, and very private. The staff were great and extremely friendly, they made sure that we had 5 star treatment. The food was amazing and it was awesome that they fed us three wonderful meals daily. They were great at organizing all our day trips like the cave tubing, zip lining, Mayan Ruins etc. we were certainly kept busy every day. There is no swimming pool yet as they are still under construction, but that didn't effect our stay. They have a wonderful river right there with kayaks free to use. I found it really cool that the owner of the property lives on the hotel grounds and eats meals with the guests! Tip: Don't be turned off by the Tikal trip since it is a three hour drive. The trip is totally worth it and you have plenty of time to enjoy the Mayan ruins. You also get 4 stamps on your passport since it is in Guatemala! ;) " More >
