They come to your room and escort thru a beautiful garden to the hot tub area and when you are ready to leave, you call and they come and pick you up. The food is also top notch. If you have any clothing that needs to be washed, they come and pick it up and return it within hours, completely folded and in a beautiful basket. When you return to your room at night, they have lit candles for you in your room. Every one talks in hushed tones and it is just such a perfectly reverent place to stay for such a mystical place.   "My husband and I truly splurged and spent 2 nights in a Presidential Suite during our recent 3 week visit to Peru. (We also ad stayed 1 night in the Presidential Suite and 2 nights in a Junior Suite at the Miraflores Park in Lima; 4 nights in a junior suite at the Hotel Rio Sagrado in Urubamba, 2 n..."ights in a Plaza Suite at the Inkaterra La Casona in Cusco, as well as a week on the M/V Aria on the Iquitos Amazon.) It was worth every penny. While the rooms/structure of the Sanctuary are old and tired, as the Peruvian government will not permit any changes that could threaten Machu Picchu, this is still a hotel with world class service and cuisine. The Presidential Suite probably wasn't worth it, but we did enjoy the extra space for our 2 nights. If you're staying just a single night, a regular room is fine. Even for 2 nights, we think we would have been fine in just a regular room. It is very expensive for the size/character of rooms you get, but you are truly paying for... " More >

  "We were lucky enough to be able to stay here, on site for Machu Picchu. The room was a bit small, and with a little tiny patio that we appreciated after hiking all about. As mentioned in other reviews, everything is pretty much covered if you get to stay here, including the bar. I sure didn't fee..."l like drinking much at this elevation, but it was a nice touch on their part. The staff were so excellent, the food terrific, the music fun, and just the idea of being there, amazing. Before we left on the bus the next day, we wandered through the orchid garden-- very nice-- and watched the hummingbirds. We loved every moment of being up there-- not feeling like we had to head down the hill. I totally recommend this place. " More >
